House cleaning today, so I left them to it Handsome Son gave me a ride to the library, and I took in the current gallery show.
Rashmi Choudhary is an Indian artist and I have excerpted her artist statement to do her more justice than I since I don't know a lot about Indian art, other than the strong traditional structure to it.
It's intricate, finely wrought work and I just selected a few pieces to show you. I was impressed. There's an atmosphere around this work. And notice that the visitor's book is handmade. It was lovely to handle.
Then to my pleasure, Handsome Son said not to bother with a ride service, he'd come back and pick me up, since he was free
Then he stayed the afternoon with tea and cake, making inroads there, and catching up with the news all round. That was an unexpected pleasure.
While we were out, I picked up this year's flower seeds from the dollar store. Smaller selection than last year, and more expensive, but still a good potential flower area.
And the public puzzle is seasonal.
Home to a clean house and tea, flower garden set, and visiting with Son, it doesn't get much better.
Happy day everyone, I certainly had one.

Makes MY DAY happy to know YOU had such a happy one! It rubs off! So glad your son gave you such a nice surprise. Indian art is fascinating.
ReplyDeleteHe loves Pony! Very amused about her, especially with Ursula riding.
DeleteChoudhary's works are very detailed. Quite impressive.
ReplyDeleteI'm pleased you had such a nice day.
I really like the black and white fine pen works. Seen in person, there are many fine hair like lines.
DeleteSo Boud, were you an artist in your younger days? Or have you always just enjoyed art? Those paintings are lovely. Glad you had a good day with your son.
ReplyDeleteJack's meds have been adjusted and what a difference. He had early dismissal today so we took Charlie for a long walk and after supper, we all played Trouble.
Very glad to hear good news about Jack.
DeleteAbout art: I've been a serious exhibiting artist for nearly fifty years, with works in many collections, and was invited to show two works in a gallery last October. I had an art blog which I folded into this one a while back to make it simpler to read and follow. I also taught art to adults for many years, creating workshops. It was pretty exciting. This was in addition to being fully employed. I was busy! Happy life.
Yes, it does indeed sound like a grand day! I like the featured art, particularly the portrait of the blue god and his wife (not really sure who it's meant to be).
ReplyDeleteI think that one's entitled Chemistry and I think it may be a human couple but I'm not sure
DeleteI think you'd love the fine pen work in the ink drawings, if you could see them in person.
DeleteOh yes, they caught my eye too, especially the one that is (for lack of a better word) seashell-shaped.
DeleteThis sounds like a fabulous day!! And dinner looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteI do like that kind of colorful meal. Many flavors and textures.
DeleteThat does sound like a perfect day, start to finish. Supper is artful!
ReplyDeleteThat plate would make a jigsaw puzzle picture. I'd work it.
DeleteHave you ever checked out Jigsawplanet.com?
DeleteI've seen some online jigsaw puzzle places, don't know if that's one. Noted. Will do.
DeleteYes, I'd been there. And now I've somehow spent an hour on a fruit scene, thanks! The tablet isn't very good for it, the whole scene vanishing a lot, but I did enjoy playing. Other players completed it in minutes, but I bet they had great big computers with mice and everything, so there.
DeleteI think sharing that image could take me the rest of my natural span.
DeleteYou had bonus time with your kid.
ReplyDeleteI did, so happy he wanted to spend precious time off here.
DeleteA most satisfactory day, all in all. How lovely to spend extended time with your son, too - always a bonus.
ReplyDeleteHe lives close but works so many hours I don't see him a lot, so it's always good when I can.
DeleteRashmi Cloudhary's art is really, really interesting. She's a force and a talent, isn't she?
ReplyDeleteSounds like a day as perfect as that salad, which is to say- very, very good.
She has a strong voice, and seen in person, more so than in pictures. It was a good day. Evening online with friends, too.
DeleteThe art is intricate. It's such a pleasure to spend a day doing what you love and then top it off with tea and cake with your son.
ReplyDeleteIt was different from the usual tired kind of Wednesday, much better.
DeleteThat art is amazing - such tiny detail. Glad you had such a lovely day!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I could show you the art. Seeing pictures is never as good as being there, but you get the gist.
DeleteSupper looks delicious, and what a lovely afternoon.
ReplyDeleteI bought some flower seeds yesterday too.
All you need, more flowers..
DeleteI had a good day as well. I keep myself busy, an old dog learning new tricks.
ReplyDeleteLearning new things is vital! Go you.
DeleteSounds like a pretty ideal day! The art is so intricate - would like to be a fly on the wall and watch her at work.
ReplyDeleteMy pictures couldn't pick up the finest tiny strokes. I think you'd love these in person more even than in pictures.
