Cleaners, art and complications

Today the cleaners came so I went to the library to see the current art exhibit by Frank Rivera, and approve some other features

Frank Rivera, who taught at the local college where I got a lot of my art education, is interested in small works influenced by graphics and the small religious paintings seen on Italian altars.

Some of the pieces date back to the 90s. It's a mini retrospective. The colors are very subtle so a bit hard to see here

And in the plant exchange, here's the nice form of the tradescantia name

 there are interesting ideas everywhere

And in the bathroom a new notice saying that for sudden need, period products are available free at various desks, including the children's department. This is a considerate move, as any woman or girl can attest.

This afternoon Gary visited to see what's up and was proud of my successful stand at the dealership, but realized quickly it was costly for me.

And he might want to buy my car, however I haven't agreed to that, because anything around him tends to develop many complications and hitches and delays!

Anyway he supports my decision to sell though he had earlier urged me not to be hasty. He was hugely amused when I pointed out that the seller can honestly claim it was driven only locally, by an old lady!

So next week I'll be on it. I can get a refund of most of my insurance payment, which had doubled since the last bill. This is all good.

And good news from the food pantry: people have come through and they're able to fill all the needs this week. They're happy.

Happy day everyone, attend to your local needs,  drive your own bargain!

Ten four was good

Ten four, good buddy, was good. And shout-out to Catalyst, who got it. October 4. And trucker's CB greeting.

I decided while I was having my morning coffee, instead of just thinking about stitching the hat, to just stitch the hat. So, small fine needle and silk thread, I stitched the two crown pieces together.

Here stitches leaving an opening to turn the piece right side out. First a series of slits around the edges so it would lie flat after turning.

Here stitched, turned, the opening closed, and it matches the pattern. After this I pressed it. Looking pretty good. Next to stitch the crown and sidepiece.

Then it was time to shower and get to the library gallery to leave my work.

Team ready with sign in paperwork and here's a surprise

Old artist friend, E, wearing a tshirt she had printed from the monotype she made when I taught the group a monotype workshop!

That was a huge happy surprise and I took a picture on her phone, as well as mine. So cool. She went for a black and white look.

It was a reunion, so nice to be welcome when I hadn't been active in so long.

Then home again to oatmeal wraps with spinach and chicken, and later Handsome Son came over to visit. We spun the mattress in no time, literally a few seconds. He's so easy to work with.

He brought stuff to Freecycle

Sorting and photography to happen Sunday, a good day for Freecycling.

Then it was tea and snickerdoodles outside, lovely day. And we studied our new spider, no idea what she is but she's busy up there sewing the tree together. Two views, in sun and shade

After Handsome Son had left, I put the dried coffee grounds into a container. There's hardly any coffee smell now

Ready for the clay caper soon.

Then roast chicken and potato dice, with the Cazalets. Nice day.

Happy day everyone, despite all, try to enjoy something, kitty's birthday, new sofa, fun kids, stitching hats, jigsaw, there's something.

Misfits and vax aftermath

Thursday morning was divided between reading the Cazalets and sleeping.

Then Misfits arrived, Haleem waving cheerfully, and here's the goods.

Cans for the food pantry, tiny fruit yogurt free for points, container of oat milk no idea why, maybe a promotion, flax seed for the oatmeal wraps, spinach and chicken pieces likewise, potatoes to roast with chicken, apples for mid mornings, strawberries for dessert with regular yogurt, red lentils because I'm out of them, cilantro for all sorts of reasons.

Aside from the beauty of this food, one reason I do the unboxing pictures is in case I need to show Misfits staff wrong items or ask about missing ones. They usually take my word for it though.  Nice people to work with.

At some point I have to compose a sheet to accompany the artworks I'm delivering Saturday, bio, remarks, etc. I'll make it brief. General statements instead of listing all the exhibits and public and private collections. It's a lot. Tldr threatens. Also I'm tired.

Thursday was about do a task, rest, do a task, rest, endlessly. My energy flags after a few minutes.  Friday will be better. My arm is not too bad today, maybe waving it about helped.

Pot of tea after the food was washed and organized soon. Later  oatmeal wraps and roast chicken pieces.

Happy day everyone, very solemn season for the observant, and  sad that Jane Goodall has left us.

Upcoming art exhibit

I was invited to send two pieces in for the group exhibit of the Plainsboro Artist Group in October, so I thought you'd like to see.

22x18, watercolor and chalk, Red Orchid

and

8x8 Hibiscus, black ink

They will be shown in the gallery you saw in Wednesday's post, which I founded. In fact I founded the artist group over thirty years ago. So they're kindly letting me know I'm not forgotten, really nice considering it's years since I was active with them.

The current art scene is strong, especially considering the size of the town.

So for various reasons I accepted and included in the reasons is

Creating means all kinds of creating, gardens, meals, lesson plans, animal care, as well as the arts.

Happy day everyone, keeping well is also resistance.
