More mealus interruptus, doors and other minor concerns

I sadly remember 9/11, very local to us, our commuter train station full of cars never to be driven home, our neighbors and friends lost.  If we succeed in electing Harris, the danger of a repeat, and the subsequent presidential bungling, Bush the Second,  will remain far off the table. Meanwhile we remember and honor the dead.

In more trivial vein, I was boiling shells and simmering a lovely spicy red sauce, for lunch,  when two neighbors came over to discuss those doors again. So I switched everything off while we discussed bringing the door situation to the HOA, tablecloth repair, plant care, fall pruning, stiff joints, public furniture, postcards to voters, and finally, placed a call to the HOA, and left a message.

Then they finally left,  I had my,  now slightly overdone,  pasta, the sauce was great, and I was enjoying a bite of dessert when I was roped into a door-related conference call with the HOA manager. He's going to come Friday and look, before presenting his ideas about remediation to the board. One step further on.

I didn't watch the "debate"  because I can't bear to watch or hear that person. I notice Harris had dressed like a prosecutor, yay! and proceeded to get her policies across while wiping the floor with tfg.  A few minutes later, Taylor Swift endorsed, bringing a huge potential youth vote with her.

This is a good day. Labwork this morning, would have been good to remember to put in Ruth and Laura, but we managed anyway.

Now I'm going to loaf, walk, read, get into another Austen drama, so many productions of so few novels, and stitch. Maybe on the proposed fusion throw, which uses fabric and crochet.

It's Northanger Abbey, not my favorite novel, but the drama, great cast, Googie Withers, Geoffrey Chater -- from Lucia -- and very good production values. This one's from the 1980's.

Here's something I didn't make,but I'm glad van Gogh did.

Happy day, everyone, Harris has got this, with our help.,

Blessed cool, and tools continued

Today is another in a series of sunny cool days, lovely clear skies, moon visible, and a quilt on the bed, doesn't get better!

About tools, I've always been up for sharing, no need for everyone to buy everything. Way back, in our first house, Handsome Partner, a non gardener, seeing my gardening ambitions, invested in a tiller. I don't believe in tilling. I think it brings up weed seeds and gives them all the help they need. I'm more into mulching vegetables and flowers.

Anyway I had a tiller, and started lending it out. $5 per day, a token, to help get it returned. And I got the name and phone number of the borrowers.  Never a problem.

I loved lending to Italian men. At that time there was a wave of immigration of families from a couple of Italian towns, all keen on growing food.

They would return promptly, and one man actually polished it and changed the oil.  He explained that I didn't know about engines, being a woman, so he took care of it. Italians also had great recipe ideas.  And they were cute, never a bad thing.

When we sold the house, I put the tiller into a garage sale and had a minor bidding war.

I've rarely had my trust broken. One of my sisters used to say I  was ridiculous, people weren't trustworthy, but my experience didn't bear that out.

Same with musical instruments. I've had them shipped to me, no charge,  to try, when I was buying my recorders, and could either ship back or, if I was happy, send a check. Small trusting world, definitely my style.  It's possible I'm lucky, in which case my luck's held up for decades!

Today's walk yielded an early Fall scene, leaved down, fungi appearing

And a van Goghish scene overhead

Back home today's flower arrangement

Simple lunch.  Wednesday is a tired day, recovering from Tuesday.

So today was shrimp with dill, yogurt sauce, and mixed green salad with miso tofu, spritz of lemon juice.

Here's some eye candy. He makes it look easy

Happy day, everyone. We all make something look easy.

White rabbits, happy St Brigid, Happy New Lunar Year

A lot going on today. Let's go.

Here's my calendar on the new month. Singing and dancing, song writing.

I missed out on this because my first words were hello, Doctor, as my lovely doc called me personally at 7am to postpone today's appointment on account of the building having a water main break during the night.
Two hours later the practice management called, same message.

Gladstone and Larry are the Twitter accounts of real cats, adopted from the Battersea dogs and cats home, to work on the endless mouse problems at the various buildings on Downing street, including the currently infamous Number Ten. They're much more popular than their human occupants right now.

And Emmy is a fearless campaigner to restore some kind of  order to her country under siege from the fallout of Brexit.

Best wishes on all this from your blogwriter, an Earth Tiger. For St Brigid, I defer to SheWhoSeeks' blogpost tomorrow.

Just an afterword about the curry leaf plant. Native to Asia, it grows as a tree. So I live in hope that my little  specimen will continue to flourish.

Here's more than you wanted to know

Hard to believe it's the start of spring, but the days are lengthening, the sun is lighting a different part of the living room.

And here's a van Gogh to help the mood

Meanwhile it's still feeling like winter, temps this morning in single digits f., so soup is on the menu. Potato, cauliflower today, cream of home made vegetable stock.

Happy everything from the cosy place Chez Boud.
