House cleaning, postcards, Knitting Group, Textiles and Tea

This morning was about getting out from under the cleaning family's feet. So I went and voted, using the municipal dropbox, yayyy, go Kamala and Tim!

Then I thought the world was quiet this morning and realized Ruth and Laura were still home on the charger, so I went back and got them in action.

Back out again, sound restored, to the library, to finish the postcards, watch the window cleaners working, from the ground, on the third  floor windows

and the local artists guild hanging their fall exhibit, and I fixed a public jigsaw puzzle that had been maybe played with by a little person. Then I got back into Oliver Twist, who's proving to be a lot more entertaining than I expected.

Home again, lunch, then out to Tuesday Knitting Group, no pictures, nothing new to show you. But we talked about animals, petcare, rescues, hospice, fear of death, insurance for nonprofits, more cheerful than this sounds!

home yet again, it's all go, for Textiles and Tea, with

She's a textile designer for mass consumption, as well as having art interest, using looms from the tiny Hello to a 16-harness one.

She's studied a range of fibers, animal and plant, and of dyes, natural and synthetic. She's getting into tapestry weaving on  Mirrix looms, and makes journal entries to note natural scenes and colors for reference. She also tries found object weaving, for possible design ideas.

In fact, watching her  suggests all kinds of cool ideas for weaving..just when you'd left the last rabbit hole!

This evening may be an online watch party with friends of the Walz-Vance debacle, I mean debate.

Then I plan to take the rest of the day off.

Happy day, everyone, resting is overrated.

Cleaners, school art, and Misfits

Today being the day my cleaning family comes and I go out, I went to one of the three libraries I use, the township one with the gallery I founded.

And here's what's in the gallery

First grader!

Another first grader!

Following is a clay sculpture series, middie and high school

And high school drawings, prints, collages

It's an energy packed show, worth visiting if you're local.

While I was there a young father came by with a toddler, to show him the artworks, and I was so pleased. This is exactly why I wanted the gallery, right in the library,  so all ages could experience art casually, no big deal, no gatekeeping, parents can bring kids without worrying about criticism.  Great stuff.

While I was there I took a look at the puzzle collection and here's one of our donations, Rose

See it there? The high jinks puzzle. The rest are out on loan.

Once home the Misfits box arrived, lovely young man always insists on lifting it into the house, warning me to be careful lifting it. I dropped a line of appreciation to his company today. So much better than the FedEx throw it down and run procedure.

So no picture outside, because he put it here

Note i didn't crop out ny feet because I'm wearing the socks you saw in progress, beautiful donated yarn

And it's a small haul this week, lovely free range eggs. They really do taste and look so much better than the battery type. With any luck the chickens feel better, too.

You up for a Haggard Hawks puzzle?

Remember no giving away the answer, funny clues only, if you can think of one.

Happy day everyone, I'm certainly having one.

Many happy returns

Two returns, to be exact, one being my blessed housecleaners, and though I've been okay about sweeping floors and wiping bathrooms since March, it was just not in the same league as a couple of hours of their attention.

They clean stuff I can't reach, and they can rassle the vacuum cleaner on the two flights. And they leave the place smelling lovely.

I go out and leave them to it, and today I thought of a few items to attend to out of the house, less easy than it used to be when I could just go to the library. So I hit the bank, needing cash for anyone who shops for me, and the farmstand.

Then, the Asian store being steps away, kept on the mask and gloves and tried to go there. Found it was being gutted. The new incarnation of it, different shopping plaza, evidently has finally opened. I missed that completely.

Nothing daunted, I proceeded to the farm. Sawhorses up.  I was half an hour too early. Oh. Still undaunted, I kept going, to see if I could pick up a couple of items at CVS. That worked. First visit since February. And it appears that the new Asian store is open right next door to there.

Then back to the farm, determined, and scored tomatoes, potatoes and Fuji apples.

Then thought I'd stop off in the local park. Completely missed the entrance. By now a bit daunted, I kept on steadfastly and went to see if I could succeed in getting into the Preserve.

This was the other happy return. Haven't been for months, what with heat and storms.

It was not only open, but their WiFi signal radius is huge. I sat by the lake, away from the building, trying to identify various plants and insects online.

What's this plant? Tiny flowers shaped like a member of the pea family. And the little moth? Fat body, not a butterfly. Not a grasshopper.

It was just one of the best visits in ages, lovely wind, cool enough for a jacket, perfect for sitting.

Goldenrod going well.

Smelled wonderful, fresh off the water. Revisited favorite places.

Such as this little nook

And this afternoon is my online knitters' group.

So I'm off to fire up my computer ready for that. Maybe I'll look in the mirror. After being out in a brisk wind, I expect I need to tame my hair.

What a great Friday.
