Thursday was about continuing to follow election results, senator races from Mississippi and Alaska still counting. More and more Dem wins are coming out now, as counts are completed elsewhere.
So back to active tasks. There's a Continuing Resolution coming up in Congress in early December, that's the budget decision that keeps the gummint open for a specified period while issues are being worked out.
I've messaged both my senators and my House rep asking that they refuse to sign off on it if it contains funding for the war against Iran.
I reminded them we've given them a mandate and we have high expectations that they will resist the felon's demands. I also congratulated the reelected senator and thanked the retiring Rep. Bonnie for her years of terrific service to her constituents.
And I made one of the best meals I've had in ages, Andalusian seafood rice. It's from Alberto of Spain on a Fork. He used squid and shrimp. I don't eat squid, but I had shrimp.
It has rice, garlic, parsley, lemon juice, red pepper and a great fish stock I had in the freezer since I last had shrimp. Squeeze of lemon juice at the last minute. Just great.
Later Misfits arrived, missing a couple of items, but we'll live. They're struggling with inventory and I'm hoping as we recover from the felon in the White House, the food supplies will improve again.
See my optimism -- I'm buying green bananas. The apples are small Gala, too small for supermarkets but very good anyway.
Potatoes for roasting, diced and served with vinegar. Plenty of yogurt, dates for some baking tbd, cream cheese for breakfast toast, beautiful eggs and grated Parmesan for an upcoming quiche with the cheeses in the freezer.
Also with the frozen dandelion greens, and today's carrots, now steamed. Fresh garlic likewise. I do like garlic, and add it in everywhere it works.
Scallions to add in, too. These were very fresh and pungent as I chopped them ready.
I'm currently following the TV series Professor T, full of quirky characters, really well written, set in Cambridge, so plenty of ancient architectural and fen vistas.
It's good I have it to watch, since I've come down with the cold everyone's got, endless coughing and self pity.
I had an echocardiogram a couple of days ago, so no doubt was exposed at some point. This too shall pass. But the echo results are fine, valves all stable. So my Democratic little heart is fine to continue whatever activist shenanigans I want to continue.
I case you wondered, Gary is back from Florida and called me with urgent questions. About raccoons. He's got some around the house, are they dangerous to his little dog, etc. I think, knowing Billie the Pup, they'd need protection from her. I cautioned him to keep the garbage secure and the garage door closed.
Did I mention the parathyroid issue and my new doctor encouraging me to see an endo, no urgency. I asked for an appointment, not feeling in a mad rush. Just as well. First opening is next February. That's fine, I'm tired of doctors just now, all telling me I'm fine anyway.
The weather has turned wet, good for the plants after a wonderful string of perfect sunshine, low humidity, days, with flowers still going strong in sheltered yards.
There were a lot of what I thought at first were those little brown butterflies, but turned out to be multi winged insects, clearly great pollinators. They're all over these marigolds but hard to detect here. I need to find out what they are.
Happy day everyone, so much hope now and such a relief. Everyone's exhaling, but still alert just in case. Flying my flag proudly again.
