Sunday morning with snow and coffee

Since Gary's tree went down in the last storm, my view opened up. Snowy Sunday with coffee and banana bread

I finished the bergamot boxes, leaving the inside unpainted to keep the lovely citrus scent, and the tops actually fit quite snugly

And here they are in a mini gallery

Today's deed is to finally repair a few rips in the pillows I made several years ago, in a summer frenzy of English paper piecing and patchwork, using batiks, silk, and designer fabric scraps.

I also converted some dyed beaded and stitched wall hangings into pillows. And the knitted pillows I made for use in the car have come to join them.

They've all had wear and tear from visitor handling, so there's a bit here and there needing a stitch. Invisible repair this time,  they're busy enough without more decoration.

The spicy banana bread is very good on the second day, for breakfast with coffee.

Happy day everyone, enjoy something, what ever you can.

If Minnesotans can do fun costume runs down the slopes, we can certainly find fun somewhere.

And we can resist AI. AI is theft.

  1. Such a lovely assortment of beautiful and colourful throw pillows! And glad to hear that SDCC is not allowing AI art in its vendor area. Legitimate fanart is such an important part of fandom and an important source of income for fanartists.

    1. Original art is the property of the artist. AI takes it as raw material without payment or agreement. As an artist I refuse to work with anyone stealing from me.

    1. Why would I want to sell them, I wonder? I made them to use here. I'll gladly tell people how I made them, so they can, too.

  4. Oh those boxes really turned out well. Oh so clever making the pillows. I invite you to share this with Sunday in the Art Room on my blog. Have a nice day.

  5. English paper piecing is a great 'when you're in the mood' craft. I've just finished 'the house of silence ' which features paper pieced quilts as part of the plot.

    1. That is a perfect way to describe it. And now I have to check out House of Silence, thank you for the ref.

  8. Pillows are always fun to have although we only have a couple because the RC doesn't like them. You have a great assortment featuring your art...useful art is the best!!

  9. I love your cushions. So bright and happy. And I especially love that they don’t match. I’m not a matching person. I love the chaos

    1. Yes, they go together but they don't match. Rugged individuals

  10. The boxes turned out well. That lingering fragrance is so nice. What a plethora of pulchritudinous (a six year old taught me that word) pillows!

There were some nice sleds in that art sled rally. We had about 3000 people at our Women's Day March yesterday. Invigorating (as was the weather).

    1. That's a good turnout. I think winter weather separates the serious protesters from the wannabes.

    1. I've given up on any place that brags about using AI. As if theft is clever.

    1. I love my view in all seasons, particularly the trees that soar up above the roofs. And I have a better view since Gary's butterfly bush came down.

  13. YES, AI is theft! How about my doctors wanting to record our conversations so AI can summarize it for their notes? Nope, for several reasons. First, I want to maintain control of my voice and not give it to AI. Second, I want to maintain my privacy and security (as best I can) and not send my data to AI. Third, humans lose skills they don't practice (if they don't practice summarizing your case notes, how will they summarize idea it to a colleague when they need a 2nd opinion? we already have psychological studies on humans losing their skills when they have AI do the work for them, such as in looking at MRI images. alarming!). Maybe there are more reasons, but those are my top three. And certainly, no AI art!

  14. Oh goodness, so fired up I was that I forgot to say that your abundance of pillows is wonderful. Additionally, I looked up the Art Sled Rally and found they have multiple outdoor art things going on now, including this "shanties on ice" event! https://www.mprnews.org/story/2026/01/17/art-shanties-and-art-sled-rally-debut-in-powderhorn-park
