Activism anyone can do, part 23,879, and more

There's a GoFundMe underway for the thug who murdered Ms. Good, his name spelled differently from other reports. They cite his mounting legal fees and other expenses.

It's against TOS to raise funds for expenses created by violent crime, and they claim this heavily armed enormous man was in fear of his life against an unarmed woman attempting to drive away.

So I reported it. Anyone can.

And I got an acknowledgement. This is part of the email in the box this morning. It's possible this attempt is being made by some unauthorized person wanting to scam people, too. His name is spelled differently from news reports.

Either way, it needs to go away.

And, this being a cleaning family day, I got a Lyft to the library.  Hasan arrived in three minutes, in a very new looking car, I like Lyft. Especially since I discovered Uber had donated $1m to the person in the Partial White House.

Later edit:  the homeward-bound Lyft driver, not Hasan, another,  ran a red arrow and shouted at me when I protested. Several other issues. I've blocked him. But I don't think he's typical.

I finished the public puzzle which had a couple of pieces in wrong places, once they were moved, it was done.

I did this little corner of this

 joyful picture!

Outside not so joyful. The renovation they're doing on the square seems to be all about removing grass and paving everything in sight.

This afternoon I'm going to get in touch with friend contractor Michael and see if he's interested in doing the bathtub using a kit we can get locally. I'd rather contract with him than unknown installers, wonderful as they may be.

And here's the current state of the church gong bergamot boxes.

Pro tip: oranges past their best are way easier to work with. They even turned themselves inside out while I was scooping out the pulp. They're willing to be molded on the glasses, too. This may explain Sally Pointer's success with windfalls.

Watch this space! Bergamot boxes and bathtubs, sounds like one of those carefree novels, beach reading, it's all go.

  1. If it is a scam I'd say serves the donators right. Lyft cannot have drivers who don't obey traffic laws.

    1. Yes, I don't have sympathy, but even right wingers should be refunded! Lyft is now aware of this driver and the illegal turn. They tell me they'll never send him again. Whether they'll fire him, I don't know. I hope so.

  2. Very neat on the oranges and the car ride. I don't know anything about either of them. To be honest, they both spooooook me.

  3. I wouldn't abandon Lyft for one bad apple. Hopefully he was a one off.
It is hard to find venders and stores to use when I look at who their corporates support. I dropped my Spotify but I guess the boycott worked and they decided not to air ice ads, etc. So I will be re-subscribing. And I am planning two small trips and was looking at Hilton hotels after one franchise denied rooms to ice. Then we read that Hilton is welcoming ice and took away his franchise. I will never stay at a Hilton or Hampton Inn and will be writing letters to tell them why.

    1. I agree, I will continue to use Lyft because I have had good drivers up to now, and because they were very responsive to my report.
Boycotts work. I see Spotify dumped ICE ads since the murder. I really applaud your putting your dollar to work and keeping informed about where it's going!

    2. I think Hilton denied ice agents to say in their hotel.

    3. I now see it was one franchise who refused rooms to ice.

    4. And Hilton withdrew their franchise. So Hilton is still boycott worthy

  4. How could Jonathon Ross have mounting legal fees? The regime supports him and no charges have been brought against him. Definitely a scam. I have used UBER in the past but will not do so in the future now that you've alerted us to that donation.

    Love,
    Janie

    1. I agree, it smells wrong. And I forget who Lyft donates to, but I recall I thought they were benign.

    2. I checked the news. That Go Fund Me is being investigated.

  6. I wonder where taxis do and don’t exist. My town has a couple of taxis but not much Uber or Lyft I don’t think. We are probably too small to bother with.

    1. There are very local taxis here, one operating within one town only. But since ride services and online booking I don't know if they get much business.

  7. Surely the alleged murderer won't have accumulated any legal costs yet, but I expect he will. This really will be a test of the FBI, and I don't know how it generally performs in contentious cases.

    1. The state is filing charges. They can't be dismissed with a pardon, only federal can. The FBI is as useful as a chocolate teapot, and is trying to interfere. But the Minnesota AG is tough.

  8. Many content influencers I follow have mentioned the go fund me page.
They have all said exactly what you have and I’m sure they’re getting many many reports about it.
Hopefully it gets taken down soon. I can’t believe people have actually donated. I marvel at their stupidity honestly

    1. It should go away. Let's hope we busted them

  10. Okay, I'll have to search back a bit further to find out what on earth church gong bergamot boxes are.
    Well done on your activism.

  11. I had some citrus which was definitely on the older side and I noticed how the skin seemed much more appropriate to make bergamot boxes with. It's already started the drying process and yes, the pulp, as it loses its juiciness pulls away from the skin on its own.
I doubt that money is going to be Ross's main problem. The government is not about to let that man out of its sight.

    1. I didn't know you were in the bergamot squad. I hope for pictures at some point. Ross is unlikely to need money, as a protected thug.

  12. I read something that said that miserable excuse for a human being ice agent isn't going to be charged with a thing. I really hope that's not correct but it wouldn't surprise me if it is. I'm reaching the point where I am suspicious about pretty much everything I read in the news reports.

    1. The feds will try to exonerate him but the state AG is determined to bring state charges. We'll see.

  13. Lyft has repeatedly donated to the ACLU, too! Your tub/bathroom plan sounds splendid. The renovation outside your library - UGH.

    1. Thank you for the lyft information. I knew it was something I approved. Another reason to stick with Lyft. I'm happy with the current plans for the bathroom. It's been years coming.

    2. Yes, a point in Lyft’s favor, for sure! I prefer to take the bus when we’re in the city (we take a train from our town to get there), but the bus (the walk to the stop, the waiting, the ride — all of it!) can be overstimulating for one of my kids. So, sometimes we take a car to help him stay regulated, and I always use Lyft in those cases!

  14. ICE is out of control. At least your bathroom seems to be IN control and this fellow sounds like a good one. Hang in there with Lyft. They're good people.
