Celebrating Bloomsday! I did complete the reading of Ulysses, so now I'm just coasting.
Meanwhile last night I set up the warp threads for the kimono sash. I think this will work. I'll mount them on the narrow band loom, on a 12 epi (ends per inch) heddle.
The weft colors are as you see
I may add a couple more outside warp threads like the brown, so as to have a nice selvage.
The warps are 48" long and that should allow for loss, plus I'll keep the fringes. I have to decide how the sash will fasten when I see how long it ends up being. TBA.
I usually feel a bit glum when I wake, but a wander on the patio and a glance at a project in waiting helps a lot.
Gary was over this morning while I was still in my bathrobe, and since I hadn't yet inserted my hearing aids, it was a slightly disjointed conversation.
I'm pretty sure he was asking about butter left out and turned to oil, if it's still safely edible. My response yes. Then what about a fixed cat who's still spraying. My answer get a recheck to be sure the fix was complete. Last evening he wanted my physio's number which he'd mislaid. NADM.
Next up: needlearts group.
This was a great afternoon, with kimonos given to happy people, and a new member who was learning sashiko, yay!
Chat ranged over voice training, Madame butterfly, theater costume, saris, sashiko, knitting for disabled arm students, travel to India, jetlag, and more. The fiberarts today included knitting, weaving and stitching.
Back home I had no internet access so I missed Textiles and Tea. Then the signal returned long enough to write this post.
Happy day, everyone, you can only do what's possible, annoying though that may be.

Sequined top. Time to boogie!
ReplyDeleteIn plenty of time for Christmas!
DeleteYou can only do what’s possible. And you see so many possibilities. I love the kimonos and the shadows on the wall. I’ve been having a good time lately with shadows, too. Your group and the conversations must make the time pass too quickly. What an interesting group of people.
ReplyDeleteI know you appreciate a good shadow. Yes, the time goes by in a flash each week. And the socializing is so intense that it takes me a day or two to recover!
DeleteFirst thing Sue does when she enters my den in the morning if take my hearing aids off the charger and hand them to me. My hearing is so bad that it is necessary to do this.
ReplyDeleteI don't put them in till after my shower, so I got caught there.
DeleteHearing aids are a sore and delicate subject around here.
ReplyDeleteGolly, I love those kimonos.
What's the story with the hearing aids? You referred to it before. But only if it's not too sore a subject.
DeleteArrgghhh. I probably will write about it one of these days.
DeletePlease tell me she didn't sew all those sequins on!
ReplyDeleteIt's sequin yarn they're attached to the yarn.
DeleteI hope Gary's new next-door neighbours are as accommodating as you!
ReplyDeleteHe makes friends everywhere he goes. He'll get them trained.
DeleteI really do love the shadow pix and oh my! Those kimonos!
ReplyDeleteThe kimonos were well received. The sashiko lady was new to the group, too, and couldn't believe she was leaving with such a present!
DeleteGlad the kimonos continue to find good homes. Wish I was there because I really do need (want) a new summer housecoat and a kimono would be perfect. We did a thrifting expedition yesterday and I came home with a sheet that I'm hoping will yield enough fabric so I can make one.
ReplyDeleteI made my favorite summer housecoat from a sheet. Great idea.
DeleteHmmmm...what's going on with your internet? Maybe Gary can help you fix it! I had to look up NADM -- I should have guessed the meaning. :)
ReplyDeleteProbably Comcast is what's wrong!
DeleteThose kimonos are such a treat!
ReplyDeleteYou are like "Duck, Duck, Go" for Gary! You have all of the answers! ;)
Boud, Boud, Go!
DeleteYour posts are always so lovely and upbeat and I admire that, but it's also good to know that you feel glum sometimes. I'm having a glum day, not just one thing, but rather, everything all at once.
ReplyDeleteI feel glum quite a bit, and look for ways out of it. I think you have plenty to feel glum about.
DeleteThe last sentence rings with familiarity with me. Gary. What would you do without Gary! Hopefully your internet is functioning by now.
ReplyDeleteI'm also wondering what will Gary do without me! Internet has been in and out for weeks, who knows what's up.
