Summer solstice, waiting for fridgot, Textiles and Tea, wild finds

Yesterday's walk yielded early fungi

The first jewelweed of this year

And beds of wild daylilies, always a few days earlier than the cultivated ones.

Speaking of which, you can either buy spiderwort at the nursery or let it crop up as it will. This is cultivated

Textiles and Tea yesterday was mainly talking, very sparse on slides, but here's what I gleaned

And the new fridge arrived, very good installation team, old fridge  gone, and here's the lovely new one in place and working fine.

Left is Handsome Son making me a welcome cup of tea.

Happy day everyone, hoping for no drama..

  2. I don't ever think of daylilies as being wild. I imagine someone planted those at some point. glad the fridge is in place.

    1. They were an introduced species, long ago, like many others, and have been spreading and naturalizing for generations. At this point they are considered wild in NJ.

And I'm very happy with fridgot.

  3. Ah- well. Now you can quit worrying about the refrigerator and that is good.
    Happy Summer Solstice to you!

    1. Yes, a relief. In fact I like it so much that when my own ancient fridge goes, this is what I think I'll replace it with. Mine's only about 34 years old! These things tend to last.

  4. How lucky to have a refrigerator last 34 years! I have what feels like millions of daylilies. Tonight will be light until about 10:00. Then dusk. Then it will start going the other way fast. Happy Solstice to you.

    1. They only showed that one weaving, unless I missed something. It was a weird episode!

    1. I wonder if you're a bit north of me? Our daylight had gone by shortly after nine. It was a cloudy cool day.

  7. Stonehenge is a marvel, but I once saw a photographer there (on the solstice, I think), and there were hordes of people.

    1. It's a gathering place for many groups on the solstice, not surprising.

  8. We used to have wild spiderwort near our house in Florida. I had no idea you could get it at a nursery!

    1. The neighbor whose spiderwort I showed also has the wild one close to the cultivated one. I wonder if they know they're the same? One's bigger.

  9. Magnificent day lilies - ours have died off (before flowering) in the heat wave and drought we had in the first part of June and we thought about you and the cordage project.

    1. I love her. Every Wednesday she posts a little stop motion animation for Dance like a Weasel, you know you want to! With music. I do a little dance, too!
