Misfits box, reading, watch this space

Yesterday was a good thing, handsome Son happy with new refrigerator, then later Gary and neighbor on the other side joined forces to pull out my overgrown no longer fruiting cherry bushes.

Watch this space

Who knows what will find a home there now. It's in deep shade, so there's that.

And since I'd baked the second batch of that cookie dough I froze, the lemon balm cookies

some found their way to both houses.

The first batch,  baked per the recipe at 10 minutes at 350°f were not as good as I'd like. So this batch I baked for 12 minutes at 375°f. Lovely crisp edges, much better.

And here's our exciting summer weather upcoming

Weather for jigsaw puzzles, reading, here's the current old fashioned but nice cozy

also cooking, and the Misfits box arrived today, small but good

And here's my Pride Protest New Doormat. I had planned on buying it at Target until they chickened out in the Pride merch. So I went elsewhere, it arrived yesterday, that'll teach them!

Yet more strawberries, possibly for jam, in any case, breakfasts of pita bread filled with spinach and fruit, currently blueberries, strswberries or dried Turkish apricots, are on the menu.

The puzzle answer, as a number of people probably know, is

ETERNAL

As in hope springs. There may also be others, but I got just one.

Happy day everyone! Enjoy your day, and I hope it brings good things.

  1. I'll look forward to seeing what you do with the space. I stopped shopping at Target years ago. They are a Minnesota based company, once part of the now defunct Dayton Hudson Corporation. Several years ago, as they were touting themselves as supportive of equality they were found out on a political donation to a fierce opponent of LGBTQ rights. It had a bit of a backlash, as this move has done. You do have a healthy diet.

    1. Thanks for the history of target. News to me. I hope my doormat protest is powerful!

  2. Heh-heh. I bet Target now rues the day they put all the Pride things in the back of the store!
We've been having weather like that but hotter of course. Today I woke up to rain but now there is a beautiful clear blue sky.

    1. So am I. I'm wondering if daffodils will be good.

  5. I had many daffodils. No more. The problem I have with them is that their pretty time is relatively short compared to the down time afterward. My beds were covered with brown leaves for weeks. They are extremely hardy. I thought I'd dug up the last one three different times, Finally, last year, I put the persistent last six or so in a pot. We'll see if they survive in there. Of course I'm in TX. Might be different in NJ.

    1. We get a couple of weeks or more blossom. I grow mine through pachysandra, so when the leaves start to wilt, I fold them under the ground cover out of sight to continue to fade. I'd be doing the same here.

  6. Those biscuits look perfect with the slightly crunch edge.

  7. Well, the leaves aren't brown at first, but it takes a long time for the green to go away so you can be done with them!

    1. I removed the dead leaves this morning and tucked the others under the pachysanda. What the eye don't see etc!

  8. Yay! I'm glad my puzzle guess was correct. I hate the fact that Target hid all the Pride stuff, but I hate the bigots that drove that fear-mongering even more.

    1. Plenty of blame to go round. But if people, and corps, refused to be bullied by bigots, they'd lose their power.

  9. I’d never heard of Dorothy Cannell. Looked her up briefly. Not sure if I’d like her or not.

  10. yes, Target really dropped the ball. but it's the usual here, one person complains and they freak out ignoring all the hundreds who did not complain. if people come in and threaten your workforce and trash the display then you call the cops! you don't give in to their demands.

  12. Always interesting to see what is in your Misfits delivery, Boud, and you always make such great use of everything. Waste is a terrible thing, so I try to do the same here before the next shopping trip. Years ago, we did shop at Target when we lived in NJ. There were none close by in VA and while Nashua, NH, has one, I have never been there in the 8+ years we have lived here have been long term non-customers. Interesting to see the Dorothy Cannell book as I put it on my library Kindle wish list along with a second one. I would be interested to know if you liked it and your comment to Ac that she was "a bit old fashioned" seened an apt description from what i read of the plot lines.

    1. I returned it unfinished. Very slow and repetitive, so I ran out of patience. Old fashioned to me is slow, not well constructed.

  13. Glad the lemon balm cookie experiment was a success. I'm sure your neighbours appreciated the treats too.
My goodness, looks like you're in for a rocky weather time! Just had one thunder boomer here - one clap of thunder and then no more. It's been raining off and on all afternoon though.
