Star wars, flowers and paperwork

First, wishing you a good Star Wars Day. May the Fourth be with you

My day started with an hour and a half taking pictures and sending them of documents for the HOA.

My phone often drops the Wi-Fi then I turn to mobile data which is very slow, then Wi-Fi comes back and confuses everything. But I eventually got it done and hope there aren't objections.

Walking today was all about flowers, and a golfer who was amazed when I tossed back his ball which he knocked way out of bounds. He was so grateful! But I always toss back golf balls on my path.

You can smell the honeysuckle from a distance. I know it's an invasive but in spring it's lovely

Here's a neighbor's clematis

Home again and the honesty is just booming

As you see, both sides of the gate

The sweet William is coming along, too.

My Japanese maple is doing a whole lot better now that Gary's butterfly bush is no more. It was crowding and shading the maple. Its color is much better this year.

Down the street a dogwood is getting heavy equipment attention

They used to just prop up a ladder, but I suppose this is safer for the operator.

Happy day everyone, plow through the paperwork of life then get to the flowers.

    1. On a sunny windy day the flowers blowing around are so spring, I agree.

  3. Oh the scents of blooming things...does the Clematis have a scent too? I used to pick off a honeysuckle bloom and pinch the green part at its base and pull out the stamin, covered in nectar. And of course into my mouth it would go!

    1. I'd do that if there weren't spraying. I couldn't tell if the clematis has a scent -- too tall to test.

  4. The flowers are so beautiful! I have a clematis that won't grow because dogs keep chewing on it. There is now a little fence around it. Fingers crossed:)

    1. That's enough to stop its growth. Lets hope the fence works.

  9. The maple tree is a wonderful colour, and the dogwoods are a good shape. The previous pruners have done well, and now there won't be ladder falls.

    1. I agree I'd rather see the landscaper on a platform wielding a saw than balanced on a ladder. I'm happy with the maple really doing well this year.

    1. Or in your case flowers and bonsai. The light is very helpful at this time of year for pictures.

  11. Thanks for reminding me about some ancient financial paperwork I needed to find/photograph and submit online this month. I paused reading your blog, spent an hour digging, and successfully submitted. Phew! Now back reading and you've reminded me (are you the voice of my task list??) I must figure out if my honeysuckles are native or not. I recently read that the non-native honeysuckles can actually be harmful to the critters that utilize them in absence of the native species. A little more reading in order before drastic measures are taken, but if I can ID them as native I can cross "remove honeysuckle?" from my task list. Always a thrill! Thanks for this extremely productive morning, Liz :)

    1. I see you're of the do it now school of action. I hope you don't end up having to remove honeysuckle. I'm not responsible for the h around here, but I'm pretty sure it's not native.

    1. We've had a few hot days, and today will be mid eighties f, so a lot of flowers are blooming. It also means the blossoming trees were over fast.

  14. Oh, the dreaded paperwork. This morning I opened the latest census request, only to discover that it has to be filled in online. Oh. Wonder how long THAT is going to take. Comes along with dire warnings that it would be breaking the law not to fill it out in time. Made me wonder how people without computer access would manage and there's a little note in small print that you can phone and request a printed form....but....by the time you phone and they get the required paperwork in the mail, wait for it to arrive, fill it out and get it back in the mail would mean a lot of people would miss the deadline.
I am ashamed to say I forgot all about May the Fourth (which only goes to prove that most of the time I don't pay attention to what day of the week it is, much less the actual date).

    1. There's a lot of thoughtless about oh do it online, which works for people with the devices and the knowhow. Not much concern about all the others. One of my HOA s now requires paperwork filed online in formats you can't do other than on at least a laptop, better a desktop. I have neither and had to get HS to open scan and send me the contents, and I'll hand deliver them next time the agent's onsite. The other HOA sent their list in a format I can't open. HS again! I don't have Word docs available on a little tablet, no need.

    1. More like proliferation, with the HOA wanting dox year after year that don't change and they already have on file. But it's easier for them to ask again than search.

  17. Your garden is looking lovely. All those beautiful blossoms filling the air with their perfume would smell heavenly. Unless of course you have allergies.
    Enjoy the sunshine
