Sunday snow day, also pumpkins

I woke up to this on Sunday

And this
Getting snow in mid December is pretty early for this region. And here's to not having a car to clear and move for the plows!

This arrived in my library account after a long wait

Which reminded me of the sweet potato in the freezer, what to make. Also the mashed bananas. Snow tends to bring on baking.

During the morning I heard a crashing noise, sounded like something big hitting something metal maybe. So I searched the house, found nothing out of place.

Then Gary came over to report his butterfly bush, about 20'  tall, had snapped off at the base and fallen. That accounted for the crash. Too soon to see if it damaged the fence when it fell.

I had knocked snow off my Japanese maple which was touching the ground. The butterfly bush was lying over but probably not broken. Too much snow to see.

I refrained from gloating at all my neighbors digging a lot of  heavy snow to get their cars out ready for the plows.  I definitely sold my car at the right time.

I had the luxury of just admiring the sun on the snow covered trees, and the cast shadows.

While boyz with toyz bustled about clearing the parking lot

I wouldn't mind playing with this one myself

Sunday is the last day of my 86th trip around the sun, wheeee. Ready for another. When you read this Monday, I will have embarked on another trip! Yay me!

Happy day everyone, especially Sags, sez Ted and Big Ursy

And Fluffina

  1. Happy birthday, Boud, and may this coming trip around the sun be just fabulous. Wheee indeed!

My first thought at your photo "and no car to fret about!". Great minds think alike! This is a lot of snow for one December snowfall. I'm green with envy.

  3. Snow! Lovely, if you don't have to go out in it and can just sit in the warm and watch!. There's a Japanese word for 'the sort of weather that you prefer to watch from indoors' but I can't remember it.

  4. Happy birthday and many returns. Snow looks lovely and is glorious stuff if one is free to choose when and how much to interact with it (ie retired, or a kid)

  8. As you know, we have been having a lot of snow. It started on Nov 09 iirc, but there are some years when it hasn’t started until almost New Year.

Happy Birthday? Keep on trippin, eh?

  12. That looks like really heavy snow. Very nice that you don't have to clean your car off and move it. My car was encased in ice yesterday as it rained and was -8C. Yay.
Happy Birthday Liz! Have a lovely day.

  14. Happy birthday, dear woman! You are a testament to the strong of heart, the strength of will, the ability to find interest in all around you, the ability to accept change as it comes.
Plus, you're really funny and smart. And I'd say cute too but you'd probably hate that.

  20. I'm sure your neighbours were quite happy that you refrained from gloating, and I'm sure some of them felt quite jealous of you. Happy Birth Day wishes and here's to another happy trip around the sun.

  21. You really got nailed. It looks like you have lots more than we do, but we definitely have the frigid cold. Yes, these times call for baking!

  22. The snow looks pretty, until humans interfere with it.

  23. It's not so much the snow but the temperatures in the teens that's got me on edge.

  24. Happy birthday to you. I’d imagine being inside watching all the commotion outside would feel very smug lol
