Misfits arrived today and even though it wasn't the Imperfect pink van, the box arrived fine, last week's freezer block and foil bag were picked up and all was well.
Months since I bought yogurt but I thought I'd do it to make sure I'm keeping up with all the good bacteria in my own yogurt, using the last of this as a starter next time.
The coconut milk is for a red lentil curry I plan next week, leaving an interval after I finish the current lentil dish.
Did you like the codpieces? Sorry to tell you they're just fish, what were you thinking?
The Freecycle has been going well, and I do like Freecyclers who message a thanks, especially when they love the thing.
Then there's the other kind. Like this person, name withheld, who said they could pick up one group of items "sometime next week".
I ask for specific day and approx time, because I put them unprotected on the step. I'd already specified this but I was being patient.
Then this, and my rather terse response
No, I'm not giving out my address without a commitment, and I suspect they misread it, thought I was in the much bigger, busier, town I post to, nearest chapter . Despite my saying this in the post.
They walk among us! I bet they never show. Usually it's people who want a penpal deal who end up not committing. The old saying about how 80% of the agita is created by 20% of the people.
I did some meditative stitching on my fabric book here
I believe people can be even worse when you are selling something. They say hold it for me, don't show and you could have sold it to someone else.
ReplyDeleteI guess they are red maple tree photos and your not in autumn like here.
Yes, people who ask for special arrangements arghghgh.
DeleteIt's my Japanese maple opening up for the spring, young leaves translucent against the sky
Those last three photos are uplifting. That Freecycle connection sounds a bit peculiar (and complicated). What a shame about Goats Magosh.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to find Goats, she's so good to work with. Free cycle does bring out the odd in people sometimes.
DeleteThanks for the chuckle about the codpieces. That’s why so many young women love ballet, doncha know?
ReplyDeleteI wonder who made the label!
DeleteGorgeous blue sky. People who don't turn up are a complete waste of time.
ReplyDeleteIf she doesn't, I have another taker. So there's that.
DeleteCodpieces! 😆 It's kinda hot in your corner of the world. I hope we don't see much of that, fat chance. It sometimes feels like some people go out of their way to be annoying.
ReplyDeleteBack down to 60s today. I think some people are just oblivious to their impact. This lady would probably be surprised I'm a bit annoyed.
DeleteI am excited to see what you do with those codpieces.
ReplyDelete(Heh-heh.)
You do a lot of free work in your free-cycling.
It's quite a bit of work, but fun to send people away happy with their new stuff.
Deletethe red maple leaves are a lovely contrast to the blue sky.
ReplyDeleteThis tree is so happy, rescued as a sapling before it was about to be dumped. It's flourished in its new home. Beautiful when the sun shines through the leaves.
DeleteLast we Freecycled, some people wanted us to deliver the item…for free of course.
ReplyDeleteThey must be thinking free ride!
DeleteCodpieces. 😁
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they knew and were trolling us.
DeleteOne of the reasons I gave u0 on the whole free cycle. It just became too hard and anxiety causing for me.
ReplyDeleteYour days are looking lovely and bright so much blue sky.
I did giggle at the codpieces lol
I usually have a good time with Freecycle, but it's not supposed to be anxiety producing -- good idea to avoid it in that case. Life produces enough anxiety without looking for more .
DeleteWe're having some lovely days.
I don't know if it's just me but it seems there are more and more weirdos out there that seem to think they have a right to mess up the world for the rest of us. I've avoided doing anything on freecycle or selling on facebook marketplace for that very reason. Far easier to trundle stuff we're getting rid of to the thriftie and let them deal with it. One load went to the car on our way out this morning and the rest will be taken down on Monday and then the thrift store will get it all. Yes, I know I could have sold some of it but it's too much like work.
ReplyDeleteMy own experience with free cycle has been positive. Just the occasional nutjob. I've never had dealings with F***book because I don't touch anything run by Z.
