The new currency

Handsome Son, currently also
Handsome Shopper, brought me my list today, other items already put  away, and here's the produce. Scrubbed, but I always did that

And here's the star of the show ( grocery receiving is exciting these days) introducing Gold!

Which it is. He tells me flour is now on his permanent shopping list, any kind, any distributor, any size.

Doesn't take a lot to make me happy. Seeing him, if only through a storm door, and having a chat is good, too. Actually best of all.

  1. Yay for your son! I am glad you have him close by. My #3 son is fairly close, and has picked up a few things for us--one of them being 2 two-pound bags of flour. Then yesterday I found flour on Amazon, a 50 pound bag of Gold Medal Unbleached all-purpose. I paid more than I'd pay for the same amount at the store, but we're saving on all the other things we're not buying, so I went for it. I'll bag it into smaller bags and freeze it--should last us a l-o-n-g time.

    1. It's nice to be able to see him in person if only for a few minutes through the door! I'm lucky.

  2. New currency, indeed! I'm about ready to swap my car for a big sack of flour!

    1. Isn't it weird how fast we've come to value formerly standard items?

  3. I think I'm too addicted to condiments. Over half of what I buy is in the league of vinegars and soy sauce and hot sauce, etc. But I got a lot of vegetables today too. And Mr. Moon found me flour last week. Yes! We are rich!

    1. I was led down that path but a combination of a close Indian friend, great cook, giving me samples, and finding Ottolenghi's cookbooks, on top of an intro to Indian curries in student days. So yes, I have quite an array to choose from, too.

  4. Funny how something that we took for granted (flour) is suddenly such a hot commodity. I was lucky enough to pick up a large bag of AP a couple of weeks ago but cake & pastry is non-existent it seems. Not something we use much anyway so it's okay.
