White Rabbits and other good wishes

And here's the last of the lovely calendar, which I've enjoyed and shared with you, thanks to C.   The toy maker takes a bow for December.

Speaking of bows, a lot of people have December birthdays and some of them read in here, so happy birthday Gary, Janee, Quinn, Mare, Anthony, and Tarang. Bear with me if I missed anyone.

And here's the first pair of gloves for the Sock Ministry, hereafter the Glove and Sock Ministry.

And the socks, off today to warm people. I checked with Sister M who tells me they've been wanting gloves but didn't have anyone to knit them, they not being glove knitters. So I think we're on. I asked her for some thicker yarn to make sturdier gloves and I hope that will happen.

I followed the pattern for this pair, but I'm going to change it. I want longer cuffs, less drafty and longer thumbs. Not a problem. So I have my change of pace all set to go.

Then yesterday was a Misfits day and by seven pm I reported it as a non-delivery, not happy about maybe having to shop again locally. Then when I was about to go to bed, about ten pm, a thump on the step and there was the box.

A bit late to start prepping, so I hauled it in, took a pic and I'll prep today.

I'm ready for all this, being practically out of everything just now.

And even later I got a chime on my phone telling me this is ready to download

So that's today sorted.

And, in case you thought you were here just lazily reading and not working, get cracking, here's a puzzle courtesy of Haggard Hawks.

What's an eight letter word with the string WAWA somewhere in it? Post funny clues if you get the answer. I thought of a few words that didn't work before I got this one

Happy day, everyone, enjoy your day. Sags rule!

  1. That is an impressive misfits box! And I love the gloves. They are going to make someone so happy. What an excellent ministry.

    1. I'm glad they were already wanting gloves, too.

  2. When I see WAWA, all I can think of is a town in Manitoba called Wawanesa. But I'm sure that's not the solution, lol.

    1. Well it's the right number of letters, but, no!

  3. Fingerless gloves can be very appropriate in this age of portable interconnectivity.

    1. I'm hearing a number of reasons they're handy, yes.

  4. I get it but only if there is more than one.

    1. It's a singular one. Keep thinking.

    2. Would that single one, he or she, be hiding on a train or a ship? Modern times. There is a guy who rides the rails, illegally hops freight trains and rides them all over the country. And he makes videos of his adventures and posts them to YouTube.

    3. I think you've got it, and I'll wait a day in case anyone else is in their way to it. Never saw the modern day adventurer though.

    4. OK, I couldn't figure it out at all until I read TJ's comment, and now I've got it too!

  5. My brain says leave that puzzle alone! You got the gloves done fast. They will be appreciated by the lucky person who receives them. It's very good you are now able to change up your knitting. Good lookin order, as Misfits says!

    1. The gloves are lightning swift compared to socks.

  6. Love the gloves. And I think with your changes they’ll be even better
It’s early morning here and I’m getting ready for a big day with the granddaughter
So the brain is totally not working, haven’t even had coffee. So I’ll wait and find out the answer

    1. A good clue was provided by an earlier commenter, so that might help.

  7. What a fun blog! Thanks for adding so much to my day. And thanks to the commenter, I got the word. Don't think I would have ever guessed it without that clue.

    1. I'm really enjoying them. Another thing I can make without a pattern after doing a couple of pairs.

  12. I admire your knitting projects and am sure the recipients will be very happy with their warm feet and hands! My only knitting right now is one big project from which I just ripped back literally thousands of stitches and am now trying to summon the fortitude to get the hundreds of stitches on the circular needle divided back into the variously-numbered groups where they belong. If I can't do it, I'll have to start the whole project from scratch. Not a huge problem, perfectly doable, but...rather not!

    1. That sounds nightmarish! I think I'd knit something small while I decided about it.

  13. Our sons (and Resident Chef) all own a pair of my fingerless gloves and apparently love them. Reminds me that perhaps it's time that I made them new ones for next Christmas. #1 son (the chef) loves his for when he has to be outside unloading cases from the shipment trucks and needs the little extra 'grip' he has with them being fingerless.

    1. Yes, they're more useful than gloves with fingers.

  14. I think I'll hitch a ride on your blog. I love fingerless gloves as it means I don't have to remove my gloves when I need to blow my nose (a frequent occurrence).
