Here's the total of Christmas oriented books in the house. Two copies of the same book, same woodcut illustrations. Dylan Thomas and Ellen Raskin.
The cover of the first one was blank, so a very young Handsome Son set about providing it with the right info, adding his own touches.
And back at the Ministry, gloves will soon be on their way. Maybe one more pair will go with them.
In other deliveries, Misfits showed up yesterday a day late but in good shape
And there's stock on the stove this morning as I type, trimmings from the onion and carrot prep, with earlier trimmings. Later it will be in a green soup of celery, parsley and spinach. A Popeye special.
In tune with this wait
Happy day everyone, follow your deliveries and be glad if they arrive! With any luck they won't take twelve days to get there.
I have a CD of that classic Dylan Thomas recording and listen to it every once in a while during a Christmas season. I think at one time I had that same book with the woodcut illustrations too.
ReplyDeleteThey're lovely, simple, beautifully done.
DeleteAll set for another week — or mostly, anyway.
ReplyDeleteThe holiday season is starting off with the first missing package posted on Front Porch Forum. It felt like, "Oh, here we go!"
ReplyDeleteWe received a parcel four days before the notice arrived it was on its way. That’s service! Time is running out for orders though.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely beats the notice saying it's already delivered, four days before it appears.
DeleteGlad your misfits box arrived! Can't wait to see what you do with those ingredients this week.
ReplyDeleteI love that you have the book with the cover that HS made as a child.
And I love that he decided it was a prayer, needing a cross on the cover!
DeleteI’ve been a bad girl and ordered way too many things off the net
ReplyDeleteMy excuse is I can’t find what I want locally. And of course covid. Everyone else uses that as an excuse for everything. Why can’t I?
Let's hope they all arrive. Tracking sometimes shows the most weird paths our parcels travel, due west to get to us in the east, via a huge detour over the mountains etc.
DeleteHS did a good job with the cover. Things like this are treasures. Misfits looks good. I made chicken stock yesterday and veg stock the day before. You and I are on a roll.
ReplyDeleteI think stock and soup are my default cooking.
DeleteLove the Sr McNulty delivery tracking.
ReplyDeleteI can definitely relate to the delivery tracking since my nuts went all the way to Maine and yes. soup appears to be my default cooking this time of year.
ReplyDeleteI think a number of us have watched the tracking on amazement as our parcel wanders back and forth aimlessly.
DeleteYou have inspired F to make some soup. The ice has melted her but it is still a bit cold. Xxx Mr T
ReplyDeleteSoup is always good, even when it's not cold around my house.
DeleteHMMM. I know I wrote a comment on this post but it hasn't shown up. Basically what I said was that when I saw the picture of the gloves, my brain did not see one on top of the other but a single glove with three openings, thumb, first two fingers, second two fingers. I thought, how odd that she made them that way.
ReplyDeleteGloves for cartoon characters! I expect your comment went into spam. I keep checking but things appear days later.
DeleteOooh... How sweet that book written by Very Handsome Son looks. Love the updated cover and the original. For some reason your misfits box reminds me I was going to make blueberry muffins today. Thank you! And Hubs thanks you too. lol Love the cartoon.
ReplyDeleteFunny how that reminded you of the muffins. They sound good. Anything with blueberries sounds good.
