Check your spam, here comes the sun, and vote on

First a discovery I made that someone I thought had decided not to respond to my emails had not received them. Her system, unknown to her, had started rerouting my emails to spam.  I was distraught, not knowing how she was.

Please, if you haven't heard from me, find your spam file, check it and rescue any emails you should have received. Usually it's as simple as marking them "not spam".

The morning sun is moving around the living room. A few weeks ago, it was shining here

Now it's shifted to shine on the sofa

Seasonal change as seen from indoors.

And, walking the walk, my mail in voting materials arrived, and I voted from the sofa.

Into the mailbox today in plenty of time to be counted. In NJ primaries are party -specific, so you get the materials for the party you belong to.

And cooking ahead, I'm thinking of making pasta again, ravioli to be exact, so I made a mushroom filling, to freeze ready for whenever I get around to it.

Cream, minced baby Bella mushrooms, fresh thyme, doing fine in its new digs,  garlic, butter, cooked down to a spreadable sort of mixture.

I think the rest of the mushrooms might go well with yellow potatoes in a pasty, haven't done pasties in a while.

Happy day everyone.

  1. It’s a fine indoor garden that you have by that window/door.

  2. Voting "from the sofa" sounds good to me! And yes, always check the spam file, people! I do so regularly. It's surprising what shows up there sometimes. No rhyme or reason to what constitutes spam, it seems.

  3. Yes. I have now taken to checking my spam folder at least once a day. I swear- I think blogger is trying to get rid of us.
    Your house is so pretty!
Feels good to vote, doesn't it?

  4. Your comment was put in spam by blogger, proving your point. I found and rescued it.

My email address has a couple of xxs in it, dating back to the days when a common name like mine either did that or had to use a long string of numerals which I'd never be able to get right. And I think nowadays some spam catchers assume it's porn, duh.

  5. I have a friend in Canada and she and I corresponded for a few years and then all of a sudden her emails did not come through, not even to the suspect file or the spam file. Tried my business account, same thing. They just went off into the ether. I finally had to get a gmail account to receive her emails.

I still go out to vote.

  6. I took my own advice, found a couple of emails which should have come to my inbox and were diverted into junk. They're now read and noted. Including a couple from dogonart, thank you! I doubt if any replies from me will reach you, though.

  7. I tried a trick of yours, making pesto to freeze in baggies, when the produce market had fresh basil that I simply could not resist buying way too much off. I even used pecans. Added it to a tuna salad along with fresh grape tomatoes - it was a festival of flavors!

I routinely check my spam in my email and in my blog comments. I wish I knew the algorithms used to divert things to spam. They need a little tweaking.

  8. That mushroom ravioli sounds fabulous.
(And by the way, I'm still struggling with my comment area. I ok'ed yours but they never made it to the post. A work in progress. Arrggh)

  9. Before I leave the exciting subject of spam, while I was reviewing my spam file I also found three subscriptions that I thought had never started. I figured I'd done something wrong. Noooo. They've been coming in, including the free Richardson newsletter. So now I must make a practice of checking more. There's good stuff in there. I suspect that mass emails are being wrongly labeled.

  10. You have to check your blogger comment spam file as well. Recently in particular many comments on posts have gone to the blogger spam file.

I also enjoy following the seasonal changes in the light. Your home looks lovely.

  11. Yes, Bonnie, Steve's comments routinely go to spam and I catch them. Now a couple of other blogistas' comments are doing it too.

Wilma, that makes me happy that my tip enabled you to splurge on basil while it was there. Pesto is terrific to have around.

Chris, seemingly I already had a free Richardson sub. I expect they thought I was stepping up for a paid one, and that's why it was the only option displaying when I went to sign up.

  12. Such a lovely room! You are inspiring me, I used to make pasta regularly but somehow just stopped. I have a pastie recipe from a long ago coworker whose mother was English. You reminded me of it. I don't look at spam enough.

  13. I don’t check the spam file but will from now on. Thanks, Boud!

  14. The sun is shining through my studio window, too. Lovely.

  15. Your sunlight streaming through windows pictures have inspired me to take my own. Only mine never look as good as yours. I have been noticing how the light is changing its position over the last couple of months and I'm finding this observation to be helpful in my feeling more at home in this still new-to-me place. Okay... I really should post some pictures and write about that.
