I did more work on Madame Poupee,
and here she is.
Hair finished, little trim, skirt created from some crazy patchwork I'd done using fabrics I'd printed and image transferred onto among other things, largely silk, on a linen base.
This doll is reminding me of the Robe, work ongoing, that I stitched and appliqued old work onto.
I rigged up a stand using a drinking glass. Her legs are inside the glass, skirt outside. This is heavy enough not to fall over.
And she's changed personality yet again with the skirt and the crystal, I mean diamond, necklace. Bit of attitude showing here.
Unless a sudden need for a hat happens, she may be done.
The attempts to get her vertical have led me into another new niche worid: doll stands. I didn't even know they were a thing, not being a collector, until just now.
Next discovery is that they're largely made for commercial doll brands in standard sizes. Even the adjustable ones won't quite work. So I will be investigating making my own.
With my trusty assortment of wire in various gauges, and PVC pipe. Of course. Only a matter of time before PVC pipe put in an appearance. I have various pliers once I lay hands on them, and I'll pursue this.
Another fine mess you've got us into, self!
She looks FABULOUS and yes, DIAMONDS are a girl's best friend.
ReplyDeleteThank you. She took matters into her own hands. If I want to use pearls I'll have to make another doll!
DeleteThere's no denying Madame Poupee has good taste. One cannot go wrong with diamonds.
ReplyDeleteI'm now wondering about a name.
DeleteShe looks awesome and is definitely showing her attitude. I love the hair trim and the dress is beautiful. I've seen various size doll stands at Hobby Lobby but if you can make one that's all the better. Congratulations on your creation, I love her!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes, I think stands will need to be custom made in the Boud workshop.
DeleteMadame is beautiful. I especially love her hair and how you managed to get her to stand up.
ReplyDeleteThank you. The hair seemed never ending but it did come out okay eventually.
Delete"Here I am!" she says. "Am I not a glory?"
ReplyDeleteI thought she was pretty confident, yes.
Deleteshe turned out well. that was a fun exercise.
ReplyDeleteI learned quite a bit ready to apply to the next one waiting for me to make her.
DeleteMadam Poupee is looking very lovely, dahling
ReplyDeletePretty theatrical no?
DeleteShe's lovely, quite stylish.
ReplyDeleteThank you. That was fun. Now on to the next with different ideas.
DeleteI doubt she will ask for a hat; she was pretty insistent on that show-off hair.
ReplyDeleteWell, that's true.
DeleteHmmmm - one wonders if there will be a hat, but it would be a shame to cover up that hairstyle. And now, for our viewing pleasure, our Boud has gone off into the world of making doll stands. Never a dull moment at Chez Boud!
ReplyDeleteTrue!
