Busy just being

Today's floral tribute, spiderwort, rudbeckia, daisies

The maranta flower has opened and another bud is at work

Today's sun tea, with a sprig of peppermint

Here's the garlic prep board, newly sharpened knife at work

The board designation is done by whatever color looks good with the food item. In case you wondered.

And the divine Stacey Abrams has come out with another thriller. Yes, it's the same Stacey Abrams. She's a brilliant thriller writer as well as political mover and shaker.
I have a six month wait for this at the library.

Meanwhile I'm reading a non-Brunetti Donna Leon

But mostly, the weather out being steaming hot and storms starting up, I'm taking Sandy Boynton's advice for the day

  1. I like 'just be' - too bad more of the world wouldn't subscribe to that theory. Not everyone has a cutting board to suit the moment. Your inner food stylist coming out!

  2. I didn't know Stacey Abrams is an author as well!

    1. She published her first few thrillers with a nom de plume, probably so as to be seen as a political activist rather than a writer marching in her spare time. Then recently she just went over to her own name in all the moving parts of her life.

  3. It's almost tempting to prep a head of garlic ahead of time.

    1. I like to do that and freeze the segments ready for use. It freezes fine.

  4. I forgot to mention I cut a nice crop of garlic scapes now in the freezer. And new ones started growing right away.

  6. 'just be' and 'be here now'. good advice. our culture is so crazy. unless you are 'accomplishing' all the time you are considered lazy and worthless. no wonder this country is full of stressed out and crazy people.

    1. And it takes conscious effort to move away from those assumptions. I'm working on it.
