Today was chop wood, carry water, change the bed, launder all the laundry, make up the bed, take a walk to keep my legs working, and upload last night's pictures to Freecycle.
Handsome Son is moving right ahead with his decluttering, and my living room proves it. I didn't have much luck with the last group I showed you. I thought the holidays, all of them, might mean more free time. Evidently not, so I'll have to try again.
The boxes the declutter came in have gone to Gary, and today he brought over homemade soup his new friend made ;) and left with a crate for his dishes.
Anyway here's what's up
This went within minutes of posting. It's a cassette player recorder. As you see I plugged it in to show it works. Not totally organized, but that's what happens when it's not your stuff and you don't know what half of it even is.
I like the anticipation of Freecycle and the happy people carrying away their claims.
Happy day everyone, another day of total confusion in the news, so other than nagging my MOCs and posting comments on various wrongheaded bits of legislative proposals, I'm literally tending to my knitting.

Wow! He sure is getting rid of a lot of stuff! I have Amvets show up at my home about every six weeks. A nice lady named Linda calls to let me know when they are coming and if I have stuff for a pick up. She even calls the night before to remind me. So handy!
ReplyDeleteAround here they will only pick up a lot of like items, such as bags of clothing, not this kind of miscellaneous stuff, so it's Freecycle or dumpster, but I like to give it a chance.
DeleteThis Freecycle seems to work so well for you. I guess if you have to throw a few things away at times, you have at least tried.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty much how I see it. If some items go, good.
DeleteNice collection of bits'n'bobs to give away. I like the rounded lid "chest" by the cigar boxes, it would make a great "treasure chest"
ReplyDeleteI wonder if people get in a blur when there's a lot in one picture. I think some of these are nice. Unless everyone is trying to declutter.
DeleteThat's quite some clear-out he's having. When Freecyclers disappointed me i found a local charity shop that took virtually everything and let them sort it all out.
ReplyDeleteOur local thrifties are overwhelmed with people downsizing and they often end up tossing items, so I'm trying to avoid that. They used to be a better destination.
DeleteI love the idea of free cycle, but I’m thinking of simply leaving a bunch of things down by the dumpsters. Neighbors do it all the time and the good stuff (and not so good) always gets taken away by others. I’ve seen a couple of guys scour the neighborhood on three-wheelers with carts attached to the back. I left two desk lamps there last week and when I went back out 15 minutes later, they were gone. Yay!
ReplyDeleteNowadays our local population isn't into shopping the dumpsters, different culture, but I still try.
DeleteYou're good to be doing all this posting and freecycling - it must take you a fair bit of time with assortments of small items. I freecycled some furniture a while back until I had one experience that was a little creepy and decided to be more cautious - but my environment is a lot different from yours.
ReplyDeleteIt does take time but I'm glad to help HS move on from his packrat days. I'm pretty protected here, with neighbors who are friends, but in your situation I think I'd be more cautious too. Mostly it's a friendly transaction though.
DeleteI would take the camera, the lego, and the pottery tools, just saying:)
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good day. I'm at loose ends right now, I'm done quilting for the summer but winter isn't quite done with us yet.
Too bad you're far away. It's dangerous to be at loose ends, you're liable to start creating stuff.
DeleteI just commented on another blog post about the best part of cigars being the boxes they come in. You know me- I love things that hold things.
ReplyDeleteGary has a new friend? Who makes soup for him? Aha!
One last thing- I think that yarn is my favorite of all you've shown us.
His hair suddenly went a bit darker recently, so I figured somethin wuz going on..
DeleteI think I need to post the boxes again. Usually they're snapped up, not this time.
One person’s trash is another person’s treasure.
ReplyDeleteI'm busy recluttering other people's homes.
DeleteHaving a good doctor is key to continuing good health. Lots of stuff to free cycle.
ReplyDeleteIt's useful to have good doctors, though I tend to think good simple food is key, really.
DeleteOld technology really fascinates some people. I can appreciate that, but would probably never be able to get it to work.
ReplyDeleteThis is a pretty simple device, and the taker couldn't get here fast enough!
DeleteI wish that our Freecycle was as active as yours - we are getting rid of things as we move, and I note that I am the most prolific poster there and very scant response, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteIt does need a core of interested people. I find my responders are from the same group usually.
