Here's today's sock situation
And once this pair's done, here's the next Sock Ministry adventure
,
It's very clever engineering, where you knit one long thing, with the toe and heel places organized with scrap yarn. Then you separate it into two socks, add in toes and heels and that's it.
The toes and heels are identical, and are the same as the toes I do for tube socks. Heck, I could even knit two PAIRS at once, but perhaps I shouldn't get carried away.
I needed a new adventure for a contrast with the personal and general news.
The jigsaw puzzle is proceeding verrrrrry slowly.
I was told yesterday that the local library now lends out puzzles on the library card. I doubt if they'd be thrilled at the kind of long-term loan I'd need, at this rate, but the suggestion was kindly made.
I may get the streets of San Francisco completed before the next Big One changes them. We'll see.
Meanwhile, happy day everyone, desperate news from Putin's latest try, let's hope it fizzles. And that the special master judge on TFG's antics holds firm to not having your cake and eating it.
Meanwhile, Sock Central is set.
Putin is getting desperate. I wonder how the library accounts for all the puzzle pieces? We loan puzzles in our library too and I don't even try to make sure everything is there when they're returned -- we just assume they'll vanish bit by bit over time. Maybe your public library takes the same approach.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't look like a very exciting puzzle. You can usually find jigsaw puzzles cheap at resale shops. That's where I've gotten most of mine. I read that after Putin's speech Russians bought out all the plane tickets to two destinations outside Russia. Read another thread on twitter about how poorly trained Russian conscripts are. Tyrants never seem to understand that doubling down, tripling down only leads to rebellion. We'll see what the Russian people do. Gotta love it that the special judge Trump insisted on isn't having any of Trump's bullshit.
ReplyDeleteIt's good that you have a dedicated spot where you can leave the jigsaw puzzle waiting to be completed.
ReplyDeleteSteve, yes, I wondered about missing pieces, too. I guess they just don't do anything until a borrower says something then maybe pulp the incomplete puzzles.
ReplyDeleteThis puzzle reflects scenes I've seen so in fact it's a nice one. Beats those fall scenes with trees reflected in water! Bridges over streams. Etc.
Debra, this is an advantage of no cats in the house! The pieces stay put. None under the fridge.
I can't even knit one sock at once! Dang.
ReplyDeleteAnd the only jig saw puzzles I can do are the ones for kids with less than a hundred pieces. And the kids are better at them than I am. I would sort of like to try to do some adult ones though. I just need a good place to set it up. Glen's pretty good at them. I agree with Ellen that getting them at thrift stores is a cheap option and generally, I think they have all of the pieces. Not a guarantee though, of course.
Putin just scares me to death. There seems to be no end to his insanity.
I got mine off Freecycle! Cost $0. And they're complete -- were in sections, had been completed then partly broken down. Nice.
ReplyDeleteLike Ellen, I was going to suggest second hand shops. I am even wondering about the library.
ReplyDeleteI am completely ignorant about knitting but it sounds interesting. Putin is one frightening evil being.
ReplyDeleteI so love to be able to knit socks. I’m really going to try and do some.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of knitting a long sock and turning it into two. Sounds like it would be better than knitting one and then having to cut off a foot because I’d never get round to knitting the second one lol
Putin is a scary madman
We shouldn’t count Putin out! Calling up the reserves in his country will escalate the war again…maybe!
ReplyDeleteAt this moment there's a 35km traffic line trying to enter Finland from Russia. He's going to have a very reluctant army, largely untrained and unfit. We'll see how it goes. Morale is higher in Ukraine than in the Russian military at the moment. But yes, he's relentless.
ReplyDeleteThere are several people in our building who are avid jigsawers (is that a word?) and Resident Chef has traded several via our little lending 'library' in the communal laundry room. Now he has a sciatica issue he can't sit comfortably to work on them so I expect there won't be any done this winter. I'm a 'walk-by-add-a-piece' person but have no interest in doing a whole puzzle.
ReplyDeletePutin and his second-in-command are getting scarier by the minute. From all reports if something happens to Putin the next in line is far worse.
