First tea on the patio this year

First outdoor afternoon of the year, listening to a Georgette Heyer audiobook, weaving a miniature hat, watching the clouds.

A crow chasing a redtail hawk out of his nesting territory, getting in a fierce peck at the tailfeathers. Turkey vultures flying lazy circles.

Drinking tea, eating cashews and golden raisins, while bees buzzed around the flowers and the newly opening lemon balm, sage and thyme.

Calm, neighbors playing with their kids. Kids laughing, because out of the house.

The trees in their earliest green. Dogwood in blossom.

I wish everyone this kind of quiet afternoon, to recover our balance, and remember later.

    1. Today was full of lovely interludes, walking, playing music, weaving, taking fresh thyme across to neighbors. One if those days you remember because it was so full of good things.

  4. Your comfy chair looks very inviting, with it's curved seat-edge and wide paddle-arms and welcoming cushions! I'm gradually acquiring and placing chairs all over the place outdoors here - I can't sit for long because parts start to ache, but just sitting for a couple of minutes makes a pleasant break. And Moxie often appears out of nowhere to land on my knee. And if I'm close to a fence, I sometimes get the feeling I'm being watched, and turn my head to see a velvety goat-nose at shoulder level. I can't leave chairs inside the paddocks because the chairs are not goat-safe, but I do sometimes lug a chair right into a paddock and then I have lots of company :)

    1. I love those Adirondack chair arms. I can rest all kinds of things on them. And when I need to change position, the pool chair is just the ticket. All rescued items. Shopping at the dumpster!

  6. IT sounds perfect to me. We have had a most wonderful spring. I am sure the heat will be here soon so I have tried to take advantage of the weather.

    1. Best of all: no biting insects. I'm favored by mosquitoes even when nobody else seems to be getting bitten. So it's a treat not to be providing them with lunch.

    1. I do. It's just the right size, with all the pillows installed.

  8. Sounds like a pretty perfect day. Resident Chef actually set out the chairs on the balcony on the weekend so maybe we'll actually sit out there this year. We've figured out a way (I hope!) to cover up the horrible peeling paint that obviously didn't get fixed last year and won't be this year either. All be be revealed on my blog later this week IF it works.

    1. Chairs out is a good start. Are you above the mosquito line?

    2. Pretty much - there's the odd one that makes its way up this high but most of them don't. Very glad of that!

  9. Blessed are those that move through their days mindfully. That would be you.

A turkey vultures circling in the sky here too this afternoon, and a kestrel ferociously dive-bombing a redtail. Those poor hawks; those brave crows and kestrels!

"I wish everyone this kind of quiet afternoon, to recover our balance, and remember later." Yes.

    Cheers,
