Visible mending, mild storm damage

I'm posting earlier than planned, because I got concerned messages, our weather having apparently been in the news. Our local damage, after a wild afternoon and overnight of wind and rain, is pretty moderate. Our lights flickered several times but power stayed on. Here's the morning report on Handsome Son's condo development

Where I live, different development, I haven't detected any damage, different construction, also a more tree-sheltered area.

The wind is still brisk, the ground saturated, so I'm not walking under any trees today, though there's sunshine.

So, since my socks are wearing out all at once, I'm planning on staying home and doing some visible mending

White yarn for colored socks, colored yarn for white socks. As you see, the white was unraveled from another knit, lovely Shepherd Susie natural color wool yarn.

Food today will involve salmon and peas and potatoes in some form, maybe pasties. Pictures tomorrow, originally planned for today but I thought you'd like to hear from me earlier.

Meanwhile if you like excellent bird photography, go to this marvelous person

And here's some mid winter color

Happy day, everyone. Thank you for your concern, all's well.

    1. We did. So much for the quiet Eastern states.

  3. Visible mending is becoming quite the artform. I am having to get up to speed with a variety of techniques to meet demands at our Repair Cafe workshops.

    1. It's been an art form for centuries in Japan. I like doing it.

  4. Visible mending, I love it. We are having our heavy winds and rain. Power went out yesterday for an hour. That doesn't normally happen. Stay warm over there.

    1. Our temps are weirdly mild, 40s and50s f. A bit colder with the wind. Glad your power came back.

  5. Glad you fared well through the storm. The wind is the worst factor here. It is wild!

    1. I hope you dodge the wind. We've had a lot of wires down, closing roads.

  7. Glad to hear your well and happy.
I had to do some invisible mending for a friend’s granddaughter. Her school uniform needed taking up and some darts were coming apart and needed securing.
So no artistic license allowed lol

    1. That's the dull kind. When you can't tell it's repaired, you've done a good job.

  10. Lovely job on the sock mending. It's fun to do something both creative and purposeful at the same time.

  12. So glad you escaped the storm relatively unscathed and that your power stayed on. Mending socks is something I refuse to do although I did remove the feet of a pair of RC's recently and re-knit them, muttering 'never again' all the while. Would far sooner knit a whole new pair. Our predicted storm didn't amount to what they were predicting although we did get some snow and then freezing rain which turned to rain and washed away all the snow.
