Fauci, podcast and Misfits

Just to support a public health hero

IYKYK

And a nice new podcast I just came across, from Alexander McCall Smith

This is so calming and a great antidote to current daily life.

Also Misfits came, right van but not pink.

A couple of items were out of stock, no yogurt, shock, horror!  But it's still a good box.
Peaches, plums, strawberries to cook, the strawberries probably as jam or sauce.

All the cheese you need for great quiches and pastas, carrots for roasting and to go with the potatoes and chicken I roasted earlier this morning

With shawarma spice mix

Bread because it's still too hot to bake regular bread. Bananas for breakfast, and plant based beef stuff, a new try for me.

I'm still having fun with my mini videos, which will form a kind of local nature journal. They're a separate adventure from blogging, but while we're talking nature, the patio zinnias are getting under way, and a fresh crop of daisies.

The wandering dude is summering under the self planted butterfly bush.  The bush has already grown about six feet this season, and much straighter since I pruned it heavily at the front in spring.  It's not leaning over between the chairs now.

Happy day everyone, life's good.  And I sent a little donation to ActBlue to support their Run for Something program, funding new Democratic candidates for office. No more letting GOP run unopposed.

  1. It seems to me that the Magats are desperate for anything they believe will ignite their cult leaders to get out and vote for the party line and one of them said, "Hey! Remember how much they hated Fauci? Let's bring that back!"
    "Yeah, Yeah!" they all shouted.
I really do not think that worked very well.
Thanks for the heads-up about the Alexander McCall Smith podcast. I've just found and followed it.

    1. That podcast is lovely, in the way the Ladies Detective Agency is. I'm happy to find it among all the resistance ones I follow. It's a rest.

  2. I don't understand what's going on with regards to Dr. Fauci. It sounds like a witch hunt to me.

    1. It's a personal vendetta because of the opinions he expressed about the feller in the White House.

  3. Someday Fauci will be known as the Galileo of the 21st century, a man of science unjustly persecuted by ignorant and rabid ideologues, if human history lasts long enough for saner heads to prevail.

    1. The slight difference is that most of us love and respect Fauci, and have been sending supportive messages so he's not alone. But your description of his attackers is spot on.

  4. I read about some of the rude comments that the Republicans threw at Dr. Fauci. I was shocked how mean they were. I remember him doing so much to help us through Covid and have read about the many great things that he has done throughout his career.
I've subscribed to Alexander McCall Smith podcast now, too. Thanks!

    1. I think you'll like that podcast. I never forget how helpful Fauci was during AIDS, one of the few officials really doing his job intelligently.

  5. Just when the world couldn't seem to think less of America, along comes the Fauci fiasco.

  6. I’m furious about what is now being done to Anthony Fauci. He has dedicated his life to protecting the American people and was simply too smart and too honest for the likes of Drumpf and his cronies. Shameful. They will NOT win. Sadly he continues to go through hell. Thanks for the good links!

    1. My consolation is that he's also getting a lot of support and gratitude from the population who understands the gift he's given us over decades.

  7. Memories are short and I wonder how those without proper knowledge of the time and the pressure he was under will perceive his non answers. It is just a terrible thing he is being put through.

    1. That's a fair point. We often fail to grasp the whole picture even at the time, let alone after a few years.

  8. Happy to see your Misfits boxes. I keep thinking what if I did my own box for a week of food. I believe it would be fun and interesting,

    1. You might try it and see how it works. It's possible that you'll spend less if you're more targeted. I know I'm never tempted to add in items from shelf displays, because I'm not in the physical store.

  12. I am always looking for new podcast listens, Boud, and have read many of McCall-Smiths books, particularly the Ladies #1 Detective series, so thanks for this info. Your Misfits deliveries are always interesting to see and read about how you plan to use the contents.

  13. They need to have something for the groupies to chew on. Fauci is an easy one, he was so vilified. Don't look at Iran, remember this guy over here. Another good Misfits order.

    1. True. Everything is a distraction. Even the distractions are a distraction from other distraction. It's all part of sowing chaos. Smart people aren't buying it.
      About Misfits stay tuned

  14. He sounds like an amazing work especially for his work on AIDs.
I tend not to listen to podcasts - mainly because I don't know how to do it.

  15. I feel so sorry for Dr. Fauci because he does not deserve what he's going through. He was a voice of reason during the worse of the pandemic and saved thousands of lives. He deserves accolates.
Alexander McCall Smith - I know I've read some of his books.
Off topic somewhat, but a note on good books...The RC and I just finished reading 'Theo of Golden' by Allen Levi. I promptly ordered five copies which will be gifted to our family and my friends.
