Misfits and another try

Haleem arrived on the dot. I think he has an early shift, since when he's delivering, it's mid morning, very handy.

And here you see some future planning. Makings of a lasagna which will be baked and frozen, to use when I get home after Helen II.  Plenty of cheese, too, and bread, also chunked chicken breast, sandwich makings.  Carrots and spinach probably to make a salad with sandwiches.

I need to think ahead a bit because my delivery day is the same as the surgery day, so I may stock up ahead and skip ordering that week. There's time to figure this out.

This afternoon is another try at the doctor's appointment to get clearance for surgery. Next week another. Following week two more.  It's all go around here. I certainly can't complain about neglect.

Breaking news: doctor says good to go, pending cardiologist opinion. So far so good.

Happy day everyone, tink ahed. The Thanksgiving cactus is blooming again, so it's now an Easter cactus, I guess

  1. Smart to make some things ahead to freeze. Having some easy meals ready will make life much easier, for sure. Waiting is a hard part for me. The more prepared the better. :)

  2. Oh, your Year-round Cactus. It makes me want to get one to sit on the table on the terrace. Dare I try again? So glad things are going smoothly. I had to think a moment when you said “delivery date.” Our Finnish friend who was just here is expecting two grandchildren within a week of each other, one from her daughter, one from a son. I asked the due dates and she laughed. She didn’t know the term and thought I was saying “do” date and thought it was the conception date, i.e., When did they DO it?

    1. That would be a really personal question! Around here delivery is strictly about groceries. Yes, try another cactus, why not. This little one is putting out one blossom at a time, energy efficient.

  3. I am glad to hear the visit to the doctor was less eventful this time. You are well organized and prepared already, Boud.

    1. They were so apologetic about the other day, and I was assuring them it wasn't their fault!

  4. Must be a "C & E Cactus" that, like C & E Christians, only shows up at Christmas and Easter!

    1. That's funny. She does practice economy of effort, one bloom at a time. Maybe that's part of it, not getting carried away.

  5. Everything ticking off your list! It's like planning a wedding - as the day nears, the list becomes more detailed.

  6. Being prepared with food prep is always a good plan and lasagna goes a long way so it's a good one to make. Perhaps some soups might be good too. Glad all systems are a go up to this point and hope that trend continues (fire alarms notwithstanding).

    1. If I get the energy, I plan on soup. I have to ration my strength just now. But there's time.

  7. Food stuff looks great...and you are planning things well. All those Dr's who have to sign off on the conditions so you can have the surgery! I'm pretty much in the same boat...specialists all over the place! What happened to whole person, I wonder...

    1. The good thing is they're all talking to each other, thanks to computers.

  8. I wonder if a long series of pre-surgical appointments means that by the actual event even an ambivalent patient is ready to just get it over with.

    1. I think so -- make it stop! I'm covering the bases of a raft of lawyers I think.

  9. You will be so ready when the time comes for your surgery. Making meals and getting things organized helps pass the time and you will be so glad you did those things! My Christmas cactus is blooming now, too!

  10. I would make and bring you soup after your surgery if we lived near each other. I wish I could.

    1. A bit confusing there for a minute. Haleem is one of the delivery guys, handsome and good at his job.

  12. You have certainly put thought into what will happen after or have listened to advice. I'm not sure I'd have thought to stock up on pre-made meals. Thank human technological advance for freezers.

I’d definitely stock up on essentials so you don’t have to worry about running out.

  14. Things are moving along so quickly. I will have you know that I'm also looking ahead and getting meals together. You've inspired me. But. I also have a lot longer to get prepared than you do.

    1. Doesn't hurt to have plenty of time. I keep remembering if I've forgotten anything, I can get help with it. I'm not going to be really isolated.

    2. That's a good thing to remember, Boud. You'll be 99% prepped, the way, you're ticking things off the list, but there will always be one last thing, and there will be more than one person at the ready to take care of it. You have set up a great team, and you'll be back on your feet before you know it.

    3. That's the plan! We'll see how it works. The hospital lady who called to make sure I have equipment, help, etc, kept saying, oh, you're really ready. She sounded surprised, so I suppose some people just bumble on, a bit haphazardly. Diff'rent folks, strokes. Maybe they're not as nervous as I am.

  17. Having some ready made meals will be better than anything store bought and frozen, so you are a very wise planner. Good news on the surgery go ahead from one doctor and hope all goes well with the next clearance.
