In the gallery

This morning I got a call from the surgeon's assistant organizing what sounded like a blitz of testing, before and after the surgery.  I'm still assimilating it all and she'll send me print and email confirmation about it all.

The cleaners are here today and I was glad to get to the library and decompress, with the latest mystery, the first in a series, with an old lady crossword puzzle creator starting out in murder detection. It seems to be a TV series too

And there's a new exhibit, oil on canvas, in the gallery

She takes photographs of moments then later paints them. She definitely has a very accurate eye for gesture and nuance.

Home to a clean house, good. The cleaning team definitely keeps me in this house. I do very little between their visits other than launder their mops and cloths and refill their spray bottles. Especially now that my moving is getting harder and slower, they're a blessing.

Happy day everyone. I hope you have the help you need, too.

  1. Some lovely paintings. That’s how we paint. We choose a picture we like and aim to paint it. I wish I still had my cleaner. I do miss coming home to a clean house.

  2. I need some SERIOUS help, but it’s not on the housekeeper’s list. Ah well. It sounds like your medical team is taking good care of things, but I’ll bet you’re looking forward to getting past this.

  4. Yes, PBS broadcast the Marlow Murder Club series not too long ago. It was good, and apparently a second season is coming up.

    1. I wonder if they still make DVDs, but I think it's streaming now if anything. I'll check though.

  5. At first I thought those paintings were photographs! She has an incredible talent.
Very glad you have good, and trustworthy, cleaners. I'm sure you will be thanking them even more as you recover after the surgery.

    1. My house cleaners have been working with me for many years. I really rely on them.

  6. Now I am scratching my head. I am convinced I have read The Marlow Murder Club - I recognise the cover but it's not in my reading journal. I also read a book recently - which might or might not be the same one - about an elderly crossword setter. One who has a secret in her past - no, that was definitely different. She had to solve lots of clues to stop the murders. Okay, now I'm thoroughly confused.
I suspect there will be lots of blood-taking involved in your operation prep. Keep taking it easy and drink lots.

    1. That book sounds the same, complete with past secret. I wonder if it's appeared with different titles?

    1. Since 9/11, US libraries are not permitted to keep records of books read, even for the user to access. Security issues. I'm glad you sorted that.

    2. I would have thought a reading record could be helpful.

  10. And if your experience is anything like some I've had, every one of those other tests will require a filling-out of your entire medical history and pages of forms signed. Why can one hand not know what the other is doing?

  12. The first painting, the man with the guitar looks very much like the person who helped with out hay delivery. Surprisingly so. There is a lot of repetition with medical paperwork. It's a good feeling to come home to a clean house.

  15. The Marlow Murder series (at least the first mini-series) was fun. Cute, not terribly deep but still fun and likeable characters! They sound right on top of things there. That's good news.

  16. Your trip to the library was a good decompression from more 'surgery prep gazillion questions'. I hope the weather is a little less breezy today so you can get out for another walk. It's blowing hard here, but Rowan will need a walk, so I will bundle up and think of your long coat with envy.

I watched season one of the Marlow Murder Club. Was pretty good!

  23. That is a very cool collection of paintings. She has a very good eye! Good luck with your appointments. I haven't started mine yet. I hope it is not 10 appointments. That would be awful.

    1. It's a lot of appointments, clearances, preliminary work, physical therapy, lab work, I've already had four PT, and two surgeon's office, plus many calls and texts. I think a lot is dictated by legal concerns as well as medical, with a patient of my age.
