Here's a stitching made by someone, sorry I've misplaced the reference, with a quotation from a brave writer
But then, photography as art is about composition more than about image resolution. Photography as recording and reporting needs great resolution. As does the photographer, come to think of it.
Physical therapy today, quite rigorous, along with discussions of art, high school soccer, resistance bands (the physical therapy kind!), obscure New Jersey towns, we roam all over. Emil believes in conversation while we work, to keep the atmosphere light.
Happy day everyone, I made the rest of that cookie dough into a batch, not the best recipe, though I improved it this time with some aqua faba. Edible.
I am sure you are at one with Emil about your country's situation but do you at times come across people who you aren't at one with their political views, and how do you deal with it.
ReplyDeletePolitics is the third rail of social life. My views are very clear, and I find redhats tend to avoid me. I've outlived the relatives who were politically removed from my viewpoint. Also my age tends to exempt me from in person confrontation. I get the poor old grandma, she's nuts, treatment!
DeleteHard to believe Hessel’s quote is so relevant in the USA currently. Edible are the only kinds of cookies I like. Edibles, too.
ReplyDeleteAh, you caught the sneaky edible reference! Nothing is ever lost on you, M.
DeleteChatting while having physiotherapy is essential, otherwise it's all grunt and blow.
ReplyDeleteYes,it's much better. I've had physios for my late husband who struggled with the talking part.
DeleteGood conversation during physiotherapy would certainly make all those exercises and reps more palatable.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's work!
DeleteYou are going to miss the socializing with Emil when you are all fine and fit and no longer need his instruction.
ReplyDeleteTrue. However then I will be back with my knitting friends, so there's that.
DeleteLove that last photo. A reminder of innocence in a troubled world.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to have those reminders. They're also part of life, not just trouble.
DeleteGlad your PT with Emil went well. He sounds like a treasure.
ReplyDeleteGreat quote, too. :)
He originally came to us recommended by a home visiting doctor who said she was amazed at how well her patients did with him.
DeleteMy PT and I talk all through the session. It makes it pleasant.
ReplyDeleteIt probably helps you loose up as you work, too.
DeleteYou are very fortunate to be able to work with Emil, who sounds like a real treasure. I know you appreciate good conversation so it's a good fit for both of you.
ReplyDeleteWoke up to an ice storm this morning - power went off at 7:30 and just came back on half an hour ago. I'm typing fast in case it goes out again. Sounds like the freezing rain will continue the rest of the day and well into tomorrow. Hopefully the power stays on, but hard to predict.
Long time till spring, then?
DeleteBeing a teddy bear lover, that last photo is a darling one. I also support your stance, a very important one in these troubled times. Wishing you only the very best of everything.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Ted's good, isn't he? Very expressive.
DeleteConversation distracts from pain and perspiration in my experience...the bear is adorable.
ReplyDeleteBingo, e. And I think you know a bit about that.
DeleteI never lasted with a physical therapist who wasn't also a talker (1 of the 4 I've worked with was quiet, and I couldn't stick with that one). Probably because I'm a big talker myself! When I was in middle school, my aunt threatened to buy me a t-shirt that said, "Help, I'm talking and I can't shut up!" I wasn't the least bit offended by her telling me this either because she's such a gem. My dad did have a shirt made with this saying on it for one of my kids when he was 3. I may need to have a new one printed up for him, come to think of it... Anyway, hats off to PTs who distract and delight us with with chitchat on all sorts of topics!
ReplyDeleteHe trains pt students, as a professor, and has told me about the tips he gives them if they can't think what to say to patients.
DeleteMy daughter is a podiatrist and she likes to have a question to start conversation that she changes every week or so (rarely she has the same patient in the same week) because people are more relaxed when chatting. Good luck with it all.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea. I used to know a hairdresser who loved her work with hair but said the endless chat with customers was what tired her out.
DeleteI think I'll take your words to heart and do some art today!
ReplyDeleteGo for it, Jeanie! Resist.
