Colder, but fields of daisies rule

Any field of flowers is good for a person's spirits, and too much of a good thing is wonderful!

Handsome son visiting today with a med he picked up for me, and while he's here I'll give him sugar cookies, tea and a request to assemble a tub bench to make it easier for me to shower. It's the kind you slide across, instead of stepping into the tub.

Here's the bench installed

And Handsome Son assembling the handheld showerhead, ready to install it

Quite a few of the extras I've had to buy because of surgery are in fact going to be generally useful anyway. I'm already using the hip kit items, and I imagine I'll be glad of the tub bench long after I heal.  So it's more long-term, really.

I'm thinking about shopping for seeds, in the hope I'll be able to do the flower containers again. I have potting soil and containers. Maybe by mid May I can do that. We'll see.

Happy day everyone! Make stuff, resist, enjoy!

  1. I like the tub bench idea, it even has a back rest! Of course I don't have a tub, so it wouldn't be at all useful here, but it's still a great idea. I haven't made sugar cookies in years.

  2. What flowers this year? Put some pots up on a bench to make them accessible. I'm contemplating autumn sowing some old-fashioned sweet peas just for the heck ot it.

    1. I love sweet peas but our summer seems to overtake them. But I think cosmos and zinnias and marigolds etc, plus scattering some wildflower mixes.

  3. I've not seen the bench before. My mother would have liked it instead of just her shower chair.

    1. That and the handheld shower are a good combo. I hadn't seen the bench before the physical therapist recommended it.

  4. Handsome Handy Son. What a guy! Glad you’re getting all set for your recovery. Fields of flowers ARE great for one’s spirits. We used to visit the ranunculus fields in San Diego County every year and get a major fix. Now, they charge an entry fee. Too bad, although I can understand why.

  8. I got the hand-held shower extension about a year ago. What an easier way to shower! Like the bench too, for simple moves to obtain cleanliness. Yes to seeds sown into planters...and I do hope your choices give you lots more beauty!

  9. I've never needed my shower chair for sitting but it is SO handy in the shower as an extra shelf! You're lucky to have Handsome Son and he's lucky to get cookies!

    1. I used my shower stool outside the tub, as a place to sit and dry off. I don't think it's been wet since Handsome partner used it.

  10. Bath tub bench seat? I've never heard of that. I'm having a hard time envisioning how exactly that works. Okay. I just watched a short film demonstrating how best to use it. Excellent!
You are going to be so ready for this. And for this to be over.

  11. Oh you will appreciate that shower bench. I got one after my foot surgery and then just kept it for Mr. M. Ours is just a chair, I really like yours.

    1. This one is much easier on the operated hip, just slide and gently swing the legs in. And out afterwards.

  16. We have had a handheld shower head for years - wouldn't be without it. I don't think I've seen that type of bench before and will have to keep it in mind should the need arise here. Bless Handsome Son for helping out and being a general handy person to have around.

  18. That tub bench looks like it might be more practical than even a shower chair. With your hand-held shower head you will be all set. Good things to probably keep around, too. Handsome son is such a help!! :)

  20. Good planning and support. I love my hand held. I have a small stool since the original seat isn't great.

  21. You and HS make such a great team. The tub bench and handheld shower are so helpful; both Mike's and my moms found them invaluable to stay clean AND safe - two very good things. The more you share these great ideas, the more highly I regard your physical therapist. What a font of knowledge!
