Today, Sunday, is warm, nearly 70°f and very windy, roaring in the trees. I went for what Handsome Partner used to call a little stumble round the block, stopping for a chat with Billie the Pup, then sat on the patio.
English breakfast as usual. This is from a different supplier and has a lovely fruity scent while being as snarling strong as I like it.
Minimal exercise today, no activism, just a quiet knitting reading napping stumbling day. I'm using the hip kit tools, especially the grab thing, gosh, it's easier than hoisting myself about to reach things. I should have got one years ago. I'd have been less of a grouch.
The completion of the glove is a good sign. I just didn't feel up to it the last few days, couldn't settle.
I returned the puzzle untouched to the library, couldn't settle to that either. So I think I'm now getting a handle on what's up. It's hard in a time of national chaos, so I have to limit my exposure and response.
The currently available Andy Carpenter is an audiobook, so that encouraged me to knit while I listen. When this pair is done, I'll send it off with the socks and gloves waiting to be mailed. Then I will take a knitting ministry break, first in five years.
Happy day everyone, pace yourself. That means do as I say, not as I do! I'm delegating the pacing. Also the St Patrick's Day observance. My long-late Irish grandmother, from Tipperary, will just have to cope.
Very wise to stay inside away from trees in a big wind. The glove looks cosy.
ReplyDeleteA couple of trees have lost huge sections in the last few years, so it seemed wiser.
DeleteIt's interesting that Tipperary was where your grandmother lived. It's a long way to Tipperary. Go on, find a YouTube clip and belt it out. You'll feel better.
ReplyDeleteThat's an idea!
DeleteYour grandma probably approves!
DeleteI expect so. She's probably amazed at my activity, at many years older than she managed.
DeleteYou are entitled to a rest. You definitely have earned it.
ReplyDeleteI never really think that, somehow.
DeleteBeautiful yarn for that glove. Very cheery. I had forgotten it was St. Pat’s Day. On the coast there were so many expat and tourist celebrants. Here, I doubt there’s anything going on. I will follow your lead (in all things).
ReplyDeleteI wrote a reply. It vanished. To the effect that I doubt st Patrick has much presence in Cordoba. And that you may think twice about following my lead!
DeleteGlad that grabber is proving to be so handy! (so to speak)
ReplyDeleteIt's one of those things you wonder how you managed before.
DeleteGood plan to avoid being under old trees in a windstorm, much as you wanted to be outside. Still cold here but I'm ever hopeful for spring. The vultures returned yesterday so that's a good sign.
ReplyDeleteI was torn about staying outside, but common sense won.
DeleteThe glove turned out well! I'm looking forward to Spring flowers also - my daffodils are just getting ready to start blooming.
ReplyDeleteYes, soon we'll be over our daffodil envy!
DeleteFrom watching British telly, when you write English breakfast, I confess that I picture and full and grand platter.
ReplyDeleteAh, the Full English!
DeleteMarch is a winter month here, but this year seem to be thinking about being spring. Strange.I kept my father's gripper and his long handled shoe horn. Both have come in handy. Billie is too cute!
ReplyDeleteVery wise to hold on to useful stuff like that. You soon realize how useful they are.
DeleteGrabbers are good. We have had several over the years.
ReplyDeleteSome people have multiples, so there's always one around.
DeleteAn incredibly beautiful day here today too, and a little cooler which is good because after doing some yard work yesterday I was pretty darn sweaty. While the rest of the country is delighted at every sign of warmer weather, we here in the deep south are loving whatever coolness lingers.
ReplyDeleteI think that a lot of us are probably having a hard time settling. Perhaps we are feeling a subconscious need to do SOMETHING but we are not sure what.
I'm doing all the resistance I can manage. If I were in Florida I'd be campaigning for the two House candidates up soon
DeleteHope today is less windy, though here I had a few gusts when walking between buildings earlier. Our maples are now dropping thousands of little red blobs all over the place...I forgot this from springs past. A good thing to forget. The sun is shining again though.
ReplyDeleteThe wind was strong enough to blow me off course out walking. That makes a person feel quite small.
DeleteHasn't Billy grown into a handsome fellow! And the grabby stick was a definite life-enhancer for me. In addition to the several with magnetized claws (like yours, I think) I also bought one version that had little soft cups on the grabby ends. It wasn't nearly as good at picking up most of my things-on-the-ground but eventually it found it's purpose: as the ideal gentle retriever of eggs that an occasional outlaw hen will lay on the Palace floor, way back under the perches!
ReplyDeleteBillie is a force to be reckoned with. You remind me that one of my jobs as a very small kid, was to retrieve eggs laid astray around the coop and under shrubs. Typical country starter chore, I think.
DeleteA day off is essential periodically, Boud. Hope it was enjoyable!
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty sleepy!
DeleteI think many of us are finding it hard to concentrate! A temperature near 70º sounds heavenly. We're in the 40s during the daytime.
ReplyDeleteIt was great, able to sit outside.
DeleteIt was so sunny here today. We walked down to meet up with a tenant who's moving out. I realized that it was not nearly as warm out as I expected it to be. But it made me walk faster. It is supposed to be in the 60s tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to that alright.
ReplyDeleteWe've had some of those deceptive days, bright sun and a bitter wind. You can get fooled.
