Misfits arrived yesterday, once again missing the Swiss chard and blueberries, but bringing the honey and almonds
I was sorry for the delivery man, since it was over 100°f when he left my box.
The honey and almonds are for the upcoming granola, but today being another hot and humid one, I won't bake till the weather cools, maybe tomorrow.
The golden potatoes are really beautiful this week. I must remember to order shredded parmesan, to make cheese roasted potatoes.
Stitching is progressing, but the weather's weighing on me a bit. On the right is an earlier block I'm adding to.
And here's a Friday puzzle. I found a different answer from the more common one, so there's at least two.
Happy day, everyone, I think the heat has slowed me down, though I did finally get around to adding a hanger loop to my summer robe, one of those finishing touches you take a while to get around to.
It is actually cool here this morning. So was the grocery store. I guess the AC was still running?
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to that.
DeleteIt's hotter where you are than it is here! We're only supposed to get up to 89 today! So yes, take care and move slowly and drink plenty of water. I like your further fancying of your stitching.
ReplyDeleteWe're hoping for rain and cooling at the weekend. Roll on!
DeleteYou have my sincere sympathy on the heat. This is our third day of nice weather, what a difference.I don't need to say take it easy, but I guess I just did! So, do. Roasted potatoes and parmesan are so good.
ReplyDeleteI have a chicken thawing for cooler weather, and plan on roast chicken and yellow potatoes. Not today though.
DeleteStitching is coming along well. You could grow a couple of swiss chard plants to keep you in greens - they last for months. I sow mine in spring and they usually only go to seed at the end of the next winter. The dark green looks good amongst the flower garden too.
ReplyDeleteInteresting thought about the Swiss chard. I have regular supplies of other greens, so I'm not too worried. But I'll keep it in mind for next year.
DeleteI got it! The answer to the word puzzle. How do I reveal without spoiling it and winding up Texas toast? :) We lost power around 10 AM; were informed it would be so until roughly 2:30 this afternoon. The governor spent millions on buoys when it should have been spent on the power grid. It's not just a heat wave thing either 'cause it happened in winter too. People always die.
ReplyDeleteI worry about friends in Texas, at the mercy of a grid which isn't being maintained. And with a governor who won't connect to the greater grid, to spread the risks of power loss. There's a small group making $$ from maintaining ownership of this grid, I'd bet.
DeleteStay cool, Boud. We have a rare day without wind! Strange.
ReplyDeleteI think it came here, big gusts this afternoon, slashing rain, thunder, lightning, tornado warning.
DeleteI am determined to figure that puzzle out this time. Must put on my thinking cap!
ReplyDeleteGo, D!
DeletePrayers your neck finds a way to be less bother
ReplyDeleteFresh produce, I deveoped a bad habit of eating eat before I get to the recipe.
Yes to eating your ingredients! I make extra yogurt so I can eat and cook it.
DeleteDon’t feel bad. You can only do what you can do. No sense being in pain and then having to stop all together
ReplyDeleteI think what you cal Swiss chard is our silverbeet. If you have a fairly long pot you can grow it very easily and harvest the leaves as you need. Even during winter inside a covered patio or maybe inside the house.
Thank you for the chard tip. I'll definitely remember next year. You and F. together constitute a drove of advisors!
DeleteYes, I have to consider my responsibility to my body, as well as my ministry, true. I don't believe in pain as a good thing for your soul. It's more like failing to take proper care of the body you get, if it's self inflicted.
That is JUST TOO HOT. Especially with NJ humidity. A good day to accomplish little. Here's hoping your subsequent winds and rain brought in the cold front (without the tornados...).
ReplyDeleteChris from Boise
Humidity has been in the 70% neighborhood, sigh. My hair likes it, though, so there's that
DeleteThe misfits box looks wonderful, as always.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it? I wonder if it surprises people who haven't used it. Quite often the only issue with a product is that it's over stocked, all the stuff ripened at once. They do give notes about the reason items are available. Over stocked, package design change (!), small, large. Very benign reasons.
DeleteI hope cooler weather is on the horizon without any hurricane force winds!
