I was watering plants yesterday, and the one that had had potatoes in it long ago before its present occupant, suddenly had some new growth.
I pulled it out and found it was a couple of potatoes
Which became part of last night's supper. I did plant a slice which was sprouting in the fingerling pot.
That's the pot in which I've planted peelings from fingerlings, so this gives me hope of an indoor crop there, too.
You never know.
How funny that you didn't discover the little potatoes when you put the new plant in the pot.
ReplyDeletePotatoes can grow anywhere! Nice surprise.
ReplyDeleteThe plant has been in the pot for years. Who knows how long the potato eyes were germinating. No sign of them till this week! I'm just assuming they're from a crop maybe five or more years ago.
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see if the fingerlings develop, especially in winter light. They're in a different pot.
Potatoes are hardy little things.
ReplyDeleteLol. Great find and in a pot!
ReplyDeleteNice surprise. I just find clover in mine!
ReplyDeleteWhen you're good, you're good.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! That is so funny.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great and edible surprise.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness - yet more proof that you have a green thumb (where, I wonder did that expression ever come from!!).
ReplyDeleteIt's a funny sort of bonus, to find edibles among the plants. In the UK it's known as green fingers. I'm not so sure, I think potatoes will grow despite anyone.
