Since popping out to buy flowers is not on right now, I sacrificed a few of my daffodils. I grow them for neighbors to see and enjoy, and passersby to be cheered by them. Not to pick. There are only a couple of clumps.
But needs must, so I cut just the ones the rain was beating down. Made an arrangement with some pruned begonia leaves.
I really need these to keep up my spirits. The smell is delicious, and different for each color.
The flowers on the first of the month is my continuing New Year's resolution. Not hard to keep.
So enjoy, just look and enjoy.

I'm keeping flowers in the house as much as possible too. It's easy now with everything blooming in its turn.
ReplyDeleteI love your daffodils, your begonia leaves.
I don't have much to pick, but these were just so appealing.
DeleteBeautiful flowers
ReplyDeleteA good whiff of spring flowers does wonders for the spirit in need of a happy moment.
Yes, the smell is important. That brisk windy scent thst only daffodils have.
DeleteWhat a great resolution! I look forward to April! Take care.
ReplyDeleteYou did the right thing, we all need to be cheered up and which way we can these days. And daffodils are my favorite flowers so now I'm cheered up too. Thanks for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Even in these parlous times, I felt funny about cutting display flowers. The ones I buy are grown as cutting flowers, do that seems different. Your words were good to hear. Any bit of support is good.
DeleteOh, I have some bridal wreath spirea that would look lovely in your vase. Perhaps I should see what I can pull from the yard. My daffodils are mostly gone but one of my siberian iris is putting out a bloom.
ReplyDeleteSounds good. And forcing a flowering branch is good if you have any. I might think about abstracting a little section of dogwood from the edge of the woods. Pruning it, really, that's my story anyway.
DeleteSuch a pretty arrangement of sunshine! I looked rather longingly at the flowers in the grocery store when I was there this morning but simply couldn't justify them when food and other supplies are more important in the grand scheme of things. Once this is over though, I will have some flowers!
ReplyDeleteBread and roses, both vital.
