Yesterday I took some slices of the homemade bread across to the artist contractor neighbor who came over to help the other day. I planned on leaving the package and texting to let them know, not wanting to disturb them on a precious Saturday. It's for Sunday breakfast.
I reckoned without their dogs, who got all excited and insisted they open the door! Whereupon I had a reunion with their older CKC spaniel and, surprise, met their new puppy CKC, Winn.
She's twelve weeks, beautiful chestnut, dear little face, and meeting her was an instant reward for bringing the bread over. If you're not familiar with the breed, here's one
This is like the older one, couldn't find a picture like Winn, but you get that face. They're happy toy dogs, friendly and endlessly funny.
This morning is like this
Before daylight, when I woke, then later, after coffee and toast. Ice on the trees. We had some snow, but the ice is the thing today.
Trying to count my blessings today, when I can't get anything arranged, a week of juggling plumbers, cleaners and orthopedic appointment. Tomorrow I'll know better.
Meanwhile I'm in for a sizable plumbing bill, but I can find the $$ at least. And eventually my house will be clean, the plumbing will all work, and I'll have good advice on the care of Helen Hip.
So I'm trying to frame it as things to look forward to, rather than get frazzled about. Easier said than done, I have to admit.
Happy day, everyone, any encouragement would be welcome at this time! I don't find that comparison helps, though. What kind of person feels better because someone's worse off? I feel that's a bit sus.
And, Sunday or not, both my senators and my congresswoman heard from me, encouraging them to protect social security and Medicare.
They're already on it, but an extra push doesn't hurt. And if we can break away a couple of GOP senators, that will be huge. So if you're in a red State, still do the messaging, don't throw up your hands, throw a message punch.
Also, AMA showing their cute winter boots
Good for the AMA, stepping up to the plate like that!
ReplyDeleteYes, they're pretty mad about the attacks on the medical world.
DeleteHope your week settles down and all of your appointments line up perfectly. Thanks for adding another suggestion where we can find the news we might need.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'll feel better when I know what's happening when. And you're welcome for the information.
DeletePlumbing really is something that can't be neglected. It's a nice feeling when all is well again.
ReplyDeleteCavaliers are sweet dogs, but in my experience, oh so stupid, and they do love water.
Well, spaniels are water dogs. I'm not sure how much chance these guys get to swim, though.
DeleteI'll be relieved when everything is fixed again.
I love that you brought bread over. And I'm happy you can find the cash for the plumber. Be nice to have everything working again.
ReplyDeleteYes. One minute all's well, next an emergency!
DeleteBeen there!
DeleteI looked back to see what I had missed, and I'm sorry you've had plumbing issues. I hope you're able to get a plumber there soon - and that everything else comes together. It's rough when multiple problems come at once. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteI have a good local plumber. The main problem is the cost, ow!
DeletePlumbing issues are so expensive but such a relief when they are working they way they should.
ReplyDeleteCathy
That's what I'm looking forward to. Not the $$, the results.
DeleteI'm impressed at the official information being sent out. Love the altpark people.
ReplyDeleteAltpark people?
DeleteI just checked. Yes, they started right after the election, I think. Seems so long ago now.
DeleteA cute pup to begin the day has to improve the day. I hope you get all the i's dotted and all of the t's crossed. And then get some good zzz's.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a plan.
DeleteThere was I hoping that as the years ticked away the juggling would settle down to 'annoying disrupted routine'. It doesn't, does it? I hope you get all that you need and a bit of what you want and I continue to admire the strength and fortitude with which you go after both.
ReplyDeleteI think my own comment went to spam! I was thanking you for the hopes!
DeleteThat’s great news about the AMA. I wonder what the CDC will be permitted to do. Great about the plumbing and hoping for good advice about Helen. It sucks when it all comes at once but just think you’ll have all this out of the way at once. And how lucky you got to see the CKCs. I love them. My cousin had the first stand-offish one I ever met. It was so disappointing. I was immediately in love and she was immediately indifferent (and not just to me).
ReplyDeleteIndifferent is not how I'd describe the two across the street. Excitedly trying to jump and lick is more like it!
DeleteI hope everything pans out successfully in what looks like a busy week for you.
ReplyDeletePuppies are always a delight.
Particularly when they're someone else's puppies. That energy level!
DeleteI hope all comes good for you and thanks for the tip about the AMA.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome!
DeleteI've always felt the same way about comparing hard things. What I say is- someone else's cancer does not heal my broken leg. Hard things are hard. The end.
ReplyDeleteI bet that puppy did indeed cheer you immensely. You are the epitome of a good neighbor.
Winn was like a shot of joy! And I have good neighbors, too.
DeleteHurrah AMA! Any kind of specialist seems booked out into the next year. Let's hope for some good tips for Helen Hip.
ReplyDeleteI'm hopeful about Helen. Also surprised I got so quick an appointment. And it was with one of the list my doctor, who knows everyone and their rep, recommended. So maybe I got lucky.
DeleteBeautiful pup and breed!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the AMA tip.
-3 here this morning. Stay warm and safe. :)
That's cold, brrrr
Deleteoh the joys of home ownership! Emergency repairs are something I don't miss having to deal with overly much. Hopefully the plumber, Helen, and the cleaners align so your universe returns to an even keel.
ReplyDeleteLucky indeed to have a visit with a sweet little puppy. Cavaliers are adorable and a breed I would consider IF we were ever to get another dog. It's not going to happen though.
Yes, home ownership has its moments. But I'd hang sooner than be at the mercy of a landlord or retirement community!
DeleteWe watched a series about a French agency and the clips always showed one of the lead characters saying, "Tout - va - bien," when they were at crisis point. For some reason that has always stuck with me, so I'll say it to you except in the future tense and in Welsh. Bydd bob yn iawn.
ReplyDeleteWhoa, impressive! In Welsh, too. Thank you.
DeleteI hope dealing with all the current stuff gets easier with progress, Liz. Visits with dogs are a great mood-booster! Glad you've got this option at hand. And visits with pups have the advantage of all the fun without any of the work ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat I have trouble with is not being able to get things organized. The weekend wasn't fun. Today is a big improvement, action happening.
DeleteCertainly, your comment is well taken about not wanting to hear about other folks ills or troubles when you have your own, get it, Boud. That said, I hope all of yours will be old news in a future post. As you know, we are currently apt dwellers having left home ownership, renovations and repairs in the past. That's ot to say we don't miss some of the true joys of our own place; however, we do not miss the repairs and upkeep.
ReplyDeleteWhat I said was i don't like comparing problems as if that helped that someone's worse or better off. I have no problem at all hearing other people's issues.
DeleteI'm glad you like your current living arrangements. Not for me. What I pay for upkeep and maintenance is a fraction of the rent I'd have to pay around here.
I don't like the anxiety, but I didn't like the anxiety of living in an apartment and depending on rent going up, without assurance that management would be prompt with repairs and maintenance. I'd rather be in charge, I guess.
You are busy keeping up with the daily “goings on” of this latest administration. Action is a great response. That is a beautiful breed of dogs!
ReplyDeleteI'm getting reassuring responses, too, always encouraging. Yes, the CKC is a dear little dog, with a history.
