The seed catalog season is here. I, with a few square feet of territory, already crammed with trees, shrubs and groundcover, study the current catalog as seriously as if I had acres of land.
Note the indoor gloves, telling you the season. I already plan on flower seeds in containers, since they worked out well before.
Then outdoors, the lovely reality is at work. First sighting of snowdrops
I'll take it. Tired day after busy Tuesday, reading and dozing.
I'm letting other people resist today.
Save 75%! Irresistible.
ReplyDeleteYes! But I'd have to plant next door..
DeleteSeed and plant catalogues are very inspiring.
ReplyDeleteThey're aspirational!
DeleteI used to be so excited to see the snow drops... and the Whiteflower Farm seasonal catalogs!
ReplyDeleteBreck usually gets here before White flower Farm, so that's probably going to arrive soon. It's such a sign of hope.
DeleteI hope you get a nice nap!
ReplyDeleteI did. Several. Today's much better.
DeleteFor just an instant, I thought you might have written, "reading and boozing."
ReplyDeleteThat's not a bad idea either!
DeleteSnowdrops! So nice!
ReplyDeleteMy friend gave me a pot of miniature daffodils which have started to bloom. Behind them, through the window, cold and snow are so out of place, though normal!
Yes, that contrast. It's one of the pluses of houseplants.
DeleteJust imagine if you DID have acres of land! And a full staff to do all the hard work of gardening so all you had to do would be planning the garden and enjoying the results!
ReplyDeleteWait, do you have a boudcam? I stroll around in a shady hat pointing and eager staff get digging. A big garden with areas like rooms, little paths and doorways.
DeleteI am craving a day at home with no real responsibilities. Today I have to go get a filling. Maybe tomorrow will be for rest.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a plan. Maybe design your next pot.
DeleteI miss the annual influx of seed catalogues but we have no need of them now. Alas snowdrops are a long way away here because we have at least a foot of snow and more falling today.
ReplyDeleteSnowdrops still come up even under snow. One year mine emerged, flowered and faded all under extended snow. I saw the faded stems after thaw. They're undaunted.
DeleteEnjoy your rest
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised to read some flower seeds should be started now. Here in my zone 4b, I haven't had luck starting seeds early. This year I've decided to put my attention to the top focus flowers, blue poppies, orange cosmos and zinnias.
I plan on planting in April- May again, not much luck starting earlier. We have a long season anyway, so waiting is better.
DeleteOur snowdrops are white and fall from the clouds. 😉 I think I'll plant seeds in pots this year.
ReplyDeleteI love my container garden, easy care and I get a few flowers each day for months.
DeleteI am so thrilled so see the multitude of resistance in protests all over the US!
ReplyDeleteYou don't need to resist the catalog, though. ;)
Yes, I'm heartened too. Then some forms of temptation should be given in to, such as catalogs. And cake.
DeleteYes to cake! I was one of several hundred who showed up at the Idaho Capitol as part of the 50-50-1 rally. Rallies seem so useless, but as a friend who protested throughout the Vietnam war reminded me, protest movements usually start small, but they can grow.
DeleteChris from Boise
I miss gardening but realize I've lost the concentration to tend a windowsill of pots.
ReplyDeleteThere are still plants to see though, so there's that.
DeleteNew growth already! I need to walk around and see what I might find here. Not sure we've enough sunshine and warm weather yet, but I might be surprised.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was out the other day I loved seeing all the spring stuff on the shelves. Even the hardware store is on it. Love me some seeds.
