Let's try this. And urge our MOCs to oppose the ridiculous tariffs.
And it's Misfits dayI really like being able to send back these ice blocks and cooler bags for reuse/recycle. One of the many good things about dealing with Misfits.
Canned goods, stocking up. I make a very simple stew with a can of diced tomatoes, can of cannellini beans or chickpeas and spices, good too. Potatoes for another soup maybe, with chard, and chicken chunks in the freezer.
Yogurt for desserts with berries, and other meals, brown rice to go with tofu stirfry, coffee in case I run out (!) and Tony's because the rainy weather is tough on Helen Hip.
Today's sand in the gears: messages of thanks to my senators, Booker and Kim, for this week's marathon speech, one delivering, one supporting. And I asked them to lead shadow hearings on signal gate and illegal deportations, to shine a light on them and not let the fascist admin move on.
All good, and now I'm reading
Peaceful reading, distraction from pain and politics.
And for the viewing pleasure of grammar police officers
Happy day, everyone. And if you want to end your sentence with a bird, or flip one, go ahead.
I love the idea of being sand in gears. It proves that even the smallest can make a difference
ReplyDeleteYes, slow down the onslaught.
DeleteThe grain in the gears is the same idea as being a squeaky wheel - it cannot long be ignored.
ReplyDeleteSand brings the machine to a halt.
DeleteHave you read the whole series? It's one of my two favorite audiobook series - the narrator has created all the characters so perfectly in my mind. (Bonus: I don't have to keep wondering how to pronounce things.)
ReplyDeleteI've probably read the entire series. I like them on my Kindle, rather than audio though.
DeleteOh, I love that resistance art by Monica Trinidad, thank you!
ReplyDeleteFeel free to swipe any time,as I did!
DeleteI have said a few choice words over the last few days!
ReplyDeleteHaven't we all..
DeleteThat is funny about the grammar.
ReplyDeleteIts a bit dangerous criticizing someone with a hammer and chisel at the ready.
DeleteI think it's so funny that every Thursday, without fail, I think, "Ah, Liz is getting her Misfits box today!"
ReplyDeleteSo speaking of birds...I've got a cowbird who shows up every year who desperately wants to get a tiny green crystal hanging on the inside of my bathroom window. So far this morning he's been bashing his head on the glass for at least half an hour, probably more. A lot of metaphor there.
That's the story of some human lives.
DeleteI'm wondering, Mary, if you could hang a cheap green crystal on the outside of that window?
DeleteYour Misfits selections are always interesting. I must admit I smiled when I read the title of your book and have to say that to us YOU are a woman who walks in sunshine.
ReplyDeleteOh, what a lovely comment to come in to! Thank you.
Deletea grain of sand. love.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great call to arms.
DeleteSand in the gears, I can do that. I can also flip some people the bird! Lots of good stuff in that order.
ReplyDeleteYes, sand and bird can be used in conjunction.
DeleteWe need lots of sand to stop the gears of this crazy administration but I think we can do it...
ReplyDeleteIf we all do our part, no hand wringing yes.
DeleteIs that a new Ladies detective book? Keep scattering sand!
ReplyDeleteI've read this one before, but I was up for it again. Yes, I have my pail of sand ready.
DeleteThat's a funny cartoon! I read one or two of those McCall-Smith books and I liked them, but after that I was done. Maybe I'll try a few more one day. I've heard his Scotland Street books are good too.
ReplyDeleteHe writes several series, and the Ladies detective agency is the only one I like. Some people enjoy the Scotland street series but I find it a bit twee.
DeleteSand in the gears! Yes!
ReplyDeleteI am late getting here and today (Saturday) all the Hands Off protests are coming! We have one here on the bridge between ND and MN. I can't attend (physically) but I will be there in spirit--absolutely!! :) :)
