Happy Presidents Day!
Biden celebrated by visiting Kiev.
Huge gesture of solidarity with the Ukrainian people and a morale booster. Great way to celebrate the day. I've been reading so many online messages of thanks from besieged Ukrainian people reminded that we're there for them.
Air raid sirens were going off while they walked here, the city being under Russian attack. Cool Joe. Acting like a leader.
He came with offers of more artillery and weapon support. And before he left, this
Everyone's included on Presidents Day Chez Boud, no matter what you're the president of, your photo group, knitting guild, library board, food bank crew. Same skills needed, same moral courage. Go us!
Happy evening everyone, let's walk the walk, whatever personal form that takes.
I love Joe. I can't help it. What a fine thing he did.
ReplyDeleteI was the president of the PTA at Jessie's high school one year. It was the coolest high school in the county so I felt very honored but also totally intimidated.
He's so tuned in to timing! This is where decades of experience together with a decent character, come into play.
DeleteI think it's appropriate to be intimidated by public office, rather than take it as your due.
Thanks for your addition of courage to the support of the Ukraine!
ReplyDeleteIt's so puny compared to their everyday lives. But they do know they're not alone.
DeleteMade the news here as well!
ReplyDeleteA show of courage from the president. He looks like a great leader to me!
ReplyDeleteYes. He certainly surpassed my expectations.
DeleteGood for Biden. Of course, the Goppers are manufacturing faux outrage.
ReplyDeleteIf he walked on water they'd claim he couldn't swim!
DeleteWe didn't know that about President's Day - good to recognize the work and commitment of all the people who agree to shoulder that role in communities and clubs.
ReplyDeleteIt's only true around me and my blog, i.e. chez Boud, but maybe it will catch on, why not.
DeleteI'm touched by your support for Ukraine. I feel a kinship with the people of Ukraine, I always have, long before the war happened. There's some shared history, both good and bad, with Sweden. There's a place called Gammalsvenskby, which translates to Old Swedish Village in Ukraine, that I learned about many years ago. The King of Sweden used to visit it and I recently heard him talk about the destruction the war brought to the village.
ReplyDeleteI feel for anyone in their situation. Particularly little children. I know firsthand the lifelong effects of being a small child in war.
DeleteBrave strong leaders were on display while the insurrectionists claim it showed Biden didn't care (? I fail to see how they came to that conclusion but there it is) about the train wreck in Ohio that was caused by their dear leader rescinding the safety regulations on brakes.
ReplyDeleteAnd their current governor refused federal aid.
DeleteA true President unlike some - and Prime Ministers - I could mention.
ReplyDeleteFortunately we were able to boot the last occupant of the White House. Too bad you can't eject the current tenant at No. 10.
DeletePutin cannot be appeased. I'm glad Biden did this.
ReplyDeleteI think this is where seasoned politics works, knowing when to compromise when to hold firm.
DeleteA good day for the Ukraine
ReplyDeleteThe visit was a few hours, and with huge effect.
DeleteI believe he went against the advice of some of his people. A good man.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't surprise me. He's more experienced and probably more fearless than most of them.
DeleteGood for Biden - and I know it had to be appreciated by many of the Ukraines, although I'm sure they would appreciate more in the way of help rather than a visit. Nevertheless, Biden is to be commended.
ReplyDeleteMaybe your news omitted Biden's personal announcement to Zelenskyy of a whole new tranche of weapons and materials to Ukraine. They got a morale boosting visit complete with an announcement about more funds and weapons.
