Good food helps arm a person in tough political times.
Misfits arrived yesterday
The celery, carrots, sausage and mushrooms are featuring in today's upcoming vegetable stew, from Yeung Man Cooking on YouTube. I've cooked from him before and liked his style.
So here's my prep for cooking today. Worcestershire instead of soy sauce, broccoli stems instead of peas. Quite a bit of prep, but there will be quite a bit of stew.
And there was quite a bit of politics yesterday, with Fani Willis crushing, from the witness box, the inept prosecutor trying to show she should be disqualified from the T***p trial because of having a personal life. I hope fervently the judge tosses it.
Then I took part in an online town hall with Rep Jasmine Crockett, a fearless MOC from Texas. There's me!
She's giving me hope. And I rounded off the day with a pod about -- hippos! For national hippo Day. A Spoutible member ran it, and I learned a lot! It was also a perfect contrast to the stressful political attention of the day.
Happy day, everyone, don't pat a hippo, they bite!
The politics can overwhelm me. Thanks for a bit of hopefulness. That stew looks so good!
ReplyDeleteYes, I need to remember I can only do so much and stop worrying about what I can't fix.
DeleteI HOPE THEY DON'T USE ANY FLIMSY EXCUSE TO TOSS fANI (&$! cAPS)
ReplyDeleteShe's definitely doing damage, yay.
DeleteI love your onscreen photo. You should change your name to Ms. Sassy.
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at your stew prep. My stir fry prep last night looked much the same. Carrots, celery, mushrooms...
Maybe I should add some potatoes to the leftovers along with some tomatoes and turn it into a stew.
I like that picture. It's my spoutible avatar, too. I knew I wouldn't feel like doing all that prep today!
DeleteSounds like a busy and productive day!
ReplyDeletePretty much.
Deleteat least the food is good since the republicans are doing their worst to bring this country to its knees.
ReplyDeleteIt's to keep up my strength!
DeleteI've always heard that hippos are mean. I remember from my time spent traveling in Africa that people there are quite scared of them. Apparently they're now proliferating in Colombia, where one of the cartel bosses imported them many years ago for his private zoo!
ReplyDeleteShe talked about those hippos. They're still trying to place them in zoos, but because they became feral they're wilder than zoo raised hippos so they're not getting takers.
DeleteI was riveted by the Willis testimony. I hope they toss it too.
ReplyDeleteI notice they're not cross examining. They don't want to go there again!
DeleteYour stew looks wonderful. Do you never know what is coming in that box? or can you order?
ReplyDeleteCathy
Misfits is an online organic food service. You order what you need, just like any grocery delivery.
DeleteYou're a star!
ReplyDeleteFood looks good. Politics, I haven't been following.
I'm famous! On the same screen as Jasmine. And hundreds of others.
DeleteThe stew looks good even if it does require some prep time; leftovers are always welcomed at our home too.
ReplyDeletePrep once, six meals. Seen that way, it's manageable.
DeleteI am so glad I am able to watch your political dramas from afar. Yes, I am often told that the outcome will affect us here, but at least I don't have to live with it.
ReplyDeleteHippos are evil.
I'm glad I'm here and able to take my small part in helping the situation. I'd hate to have no say at all.
DeleteHippos are huge, territorial, animals. I don't think notions of evil apply.
Mixing food and politics always gives me indigestion
ReplyDeleteThere is something mediative about chopping vegetables
I agree about food prep, if you just get into it rather than rushing to get it done, it's quieting for the mind. I have the luxury of time nowadays.
DeleteBetween the Willis testimony and the late Rump NY verdict, I think we had a very good day.
ReplyDeleteYes! I'd say so. Except for the terrible loss of Navalny
DeleteIt was a good day in the courts today!
ReplyDeleteA bit of justice at last. Leticia James rules!
DeleteSpoutible sounds like a multifaceted group, serving up a little dash of Texas hope to round out that stew. And...National Hippo Day? Wow!
ReplyDeleteChris from Boise
Who knew, huh? I guess every dog has its day..
DeleteSpoutible is a wonderful platform where trolling is banned and white males find they're not centered. This drives some of them to lose all reason and start screaming abuse whereupon they're banned. Everyone is welcome if civil. We do have disagreements but they're conducted without name calling. And there's a great array of ages, jobs, backgrounds, just a great online place. Plenty of white men are there but they don't assume they're automatically in charge. Online that's a revolution in itself, it being largely a bro culture.
I commented here yesterday about how nice the stew sounded but sometimes my comments don't appear - or rather they never stop being in the process of being published - according to the site. Let's see if this works.
ReplyDeleteI check spam daily, so who knows. Anyway thanks for trying again, and for the nice words.
DeleteThe political news from pretty much everywhere in the world is beyond depressing. I very much fear what's going to happen over the next four years in the US and it's not sounding good here either. At least the most likely winner here isn't certifiably a lunatic but that's not to say we're going to fare well.
ReplyDeleteOur most likely winner is one of the most successful and least appreciated presidents we've ever had. Biden's achievements against powerful opposition, are spectacular. I will throw down against anyone who whines around me about him. They're uninformed. Probably from reading the msm, currently owned by a handful of affluent white males who hate a union supporting President. There. I have spoke.
Deleteoh dear - I was referring to Donald AH, not Biden!
DeleteThen I misread you! Oops. Any excuse for a soapbox around here.
