A dandelion has planted itself in the pot, they're getting along fine.
And now I have a little green salad to insert into an upcoming Hammond Cheese lunch sandwich.
However terrible the news, after we've done our bit to help, there's usually a little something as a reward.
Sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteI grew chive in the city but have been unsuccessful out here.
ReplyDeleteI had such a bunch of chives which I snipped for years. It survived terrible winters, until last year. Hope the new bunch lasts as long!
ReplyDeletemy chives are in the ground, in a shady place where they are not really meant to flourish, but flourish they do. accommodating little darlings.
ReplyDeleteForaging at it's best, the dandelion came to you!
ReplyDeleteWe have a lot of edibles growing all over the neighborhood, shepherd's purse, bittercress, purslane, dandelion, sorrel, but there's spraying. So when I find any of them growing in definitely unsprayed areas, I seize on them. And if they show up right there, even better.
ReplyDeleteTough plants that keep on giving, just what I would need if I had a garden now.
ReplyDeleteGlad to find another dandelion appreciator. Yum!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Chris from Boise
We've hoped that our chives would over-winter on the balcony but not so far. I just resign myself to buying another plant in the spring. Can't have potato salad without fresh chives!
ReplyDeleteFresh chives are lovely. Just enough onion flavor, and nice looking too.
