Tuesday Knitting Group, Textiles and Tea

Tuesday knitting group was the last till the New Year because the library will be closed for holidays those two Tuesdays.

No pix, no new projects, but interesting chat about teaching knitting, teaching art, pig Latin, Nutcracker, Indivisible, Universal Basic Income, black walnut dye, reed pens, Van Gogh, miniature making and more.

Then home to tea, birthday cake and a sudden visit from Gary about my house cleaners. He wants to suddenly hire them. Right away. Now. One time. Hm. He might get lucky. I gave him their full (hard, Czech) name and email.

Then Textiles and Tea featuring Jeanne Sisson, an artist who draws, paints, prints and stitches on fabric to make small works, many as small as 6"x 8". The biggest are about 20" square.

This was pretty far afield from weaving, quite a departure for HGA.

And finally my Horowitz came in at the library, after months, yay. Now on my Kindle.

Happy day everyone, enjoy whatever you can!

  1. The Jeanne Sisson works are delightful. I hope the Horowitz comes up to expectations. He doesn't usually disappoint.

    1. Too true! I always forget how entertaining he is. Rl narrative braided into the official storyline.

  3. For awhile, overlaying textures over photos was a bit of an interest, but that requires more of an artistry than I possess.

    1. Layering is great to do, lovely effects, but as you say, you need the eye.

  4. I like Jeanne Sisson's artworks! I read Amazon's description of that Horowitz mystery -- sounds good! Every long-suffering neighbour's fantasy.

    1. Yes, the bad neighbor gets it!! I think Sisson is on your wavelength. I can see you trying those techniques.

  5. I don’t think I’ve read a Horowitz. I will have to change that…

  6. Your knitting group sounds like such a delight with so many topics of conversation. Textiles and Tea looks interesting too - I love her bird pieces.
Wonder how successful Gary will be with the cleaners. Not an easy thing to find this close to Christmas.

    1. The groups are both a lot of fun, yes, so many topics! I'll be amazed if Gary can get my cleaners, particularly in view of the warzone of renovations he lives in! But we'll see.

  7. Isn't it funny how some artists are drawn to do HUGE works, while others gravitate to the other side of the scale? Miniature making indeed!
I hope Gary can get some help. My cleaner woes continue...

    1. I guess Candy wouldn't be his answer!
When I did collaborative art my partner, used to making massive work, and I, for whom 20x16" was big, had a lot of adventures coping with each other's sense of scale.

  8. What a day you had! Diverse conversation, a fine lunch with HS, a manic drop-in from Gary and stunning art! I'd call that a win.

    1. Interesting that weaving doesn't enter into it at all.

  10. I hope you had a lovely birthday with your son. That art is fabulous and so was the range of conversation. I hope Gary finds a cleaner. Good ones are hard to find.

    1. I did have a good day. No meetings of the knitters till new year now. I'll be amazed if my cleaners can fit him in just now or if they even do one off jobs.

  11. All groups are slowly winding down for Christmas. Since it’s our summer here hey don’t start again until February. By then we are all ready to start again.
    That artwork is magnificent.
