Today, 02/02/2020, is Palindrome Day, and a lot of fun to type, makes your fingers do what Handsome Partner would call "a wee dance".
It's also Candlemas Day
Candlemas, Candlemas, Candlemas Day!
Throw all your candles and candlesticks away!
Old saying, a bit premature, still long nights, though getting shorter.
And it's Groundhog Day, where the groundhog looks for his shadow. If he doesn't find one, only six more weeks of winter. If he does find one, only six more weeks of winter.
Our local groundhog dignitary, Punxsatawney Phil, declared an early Spring when he peered about, saw no shadow, and probably went back to bed.
But wait, there's more:
The Flowers of February, my New year's resolution to have fresh flowers at the beginning of each month.
Those flowers are lovely, I always want more winter because we swelter here otherwise.
ReplyDeleteI'm usually eager for spring. Then summer gets here and I remember, oh, yes, too hot now!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good resolution! I sometimes crack just before Spring arrives, and buy flowers - or a potted hyacinth - to keep me going. But a jug of cut flowers at the beginning of each month is very appealing!
ReplyDeleteIt's an easy resolution to keep. The flowers last two to three weeks, being cut to expose new stem to water. Then there's an interlude of no flowers, and I look forward to the next ones.
