The daylily fiber basket is growing gradually. Slow work. I like how the natural color changes work as the side is built up.
The coreopsis you see, red and yellow flowers, appeared, probably seeded from what I strewed around last year.
And the morning glories, a bit bitten, are moving along undaunted
Here's who stopped by, stayed for ages on this branch. I think he may have been sleeping for several minutes, unworried by my getting close.
Gary stopped by to talk exterminators and plant care. He's going to be away from Tuesday till late July, trying to do last minute things. He'll still take the calls about my car from the body shop and the family next door will retrieve my car, he thinks.
Happy day everyone. From here in the trenches, midst shot and shell.
Gary is a truly gold-dust sort of neighbour. Are those red/gold flowers Helenium?
ReplyDeleteCoreopsis, as I said. Yes he's good.
DeleteHappy Sunday to you.
ReplyDeleteThank you! You too.
DeleteHappy day, Boud. Hope it’s a good one.
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteA new week begins. I hope that it brings a lot of clarity.
ReplyDeleteThat would be welcome.
DeleteThe basket is really coming along. Beautiful summer flowers!
ReplyDeleteI'm really liking this little basket. There was a long interval since I last worked on it.
DeleteTender little basket. Sweet little flowers. Gary's big heart.
ReplyDeleteYou could work that into a song, with guitar!
DeleteI have always loved dragonflies. Such magical looking creatures!
ReplyDeleteNJ has many species, too, a favorite summer sight.
DeleteLovely little basket. It is surprising how many plants can be used for fibre making
ReplyDeleteIt really pleases my frugal soul to use fibers I grew, too. Art from nature.
DeleteIt's nice to have neighbors who pitch in to help in time of need. It lifts my spirits to hear about people like that these days. The good around us is always to be celebrated.
ReplyDeleteI so agree. We need to hear this, against the evil that's happening. Because there are always good people and kind acts somewhere.
DeleteDo dragonflies sleep? I've never thought about it! I love the basket and it's coming along quite well.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing they sleep. I know bees do, seen them dozing off on the sedum. I suppose they're all working hard so a rest break is good.
DeleteYour flowers are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI really like this whole idea of a few flowers in the house. The process of choosing and picking and arranging is a kind of ritual.
Deletedragon flies eat lots and lots of mosquitos.
ReplyDeleteCathy
That's another reason to love them.
DeleteThe basket is looking great. A post apocalyptic skill. Let’s hope we will never it.
ReplyDeleteI’m looking forward to my flowers blooming
Interesting. I see it as a prehistoric skill, but post apocalyptic works, too.
DeleteBeautiful dragonfly shot. The little basket is coming along nicely.
ReplyDeleteThe dragonfly was so obliging, sitting for minutes unmoving, so I had the chance of several pictures.
DeleteWonderful neighbours. I bought a coreopsis recently and it's just flowering too.
ReplyDeleteAren't they nice? So vivid a yellow. The plant I picked mine from is already flowering more
DeleteI'm impressed you are able to do such small, intricate work. My arthritic hands would never, ever be able to do that.
ReplyDeleteI have arthritic hands but it doesn't stop fine work. I'm just a bit clumsier than I used to be. I have to take breaks because my fingers tend to lock up when tired.
