A new bouquet, a survey and Misfits

New pickings today for a bouquet

With an ink drawing suggested by it

The patio at this season is different every day

Wednesday brought the last online survey from my hip surgeon.  It paid attention to pain and activity, where my answers ranged from none, pain, that is, to everything I want, activity, that is.

I expect he'll be happy with my recovery. It's three months now, then my final follow up visit is in a couple of weeks. At this point I'm used to being unaware of any need for special care. Happy days.

Thursday was Misfits delivery day,  and they tell me they can't supply the peaches I ordered, but oh well. Everything else  arrived.

Apples because they're the daily snack, strawberries and blueberries for desserts, cherries for afternoon snacks, tofu for crisp tofu katsu, yogurt, vital, bread because it's too hot to bake, shrimp for salad maybe, feta crumbles, two healthy sparkling drinks.

Easy food prep is on the menu in the heat and humidity.

Lovely colors of summer.

Thursday afternoon was about staying in the cool, reading

New to me but starting out very promising

Then I needed to set up an audiobook to spin by.

I'd found a fine roving in my collection, with a bit of sparkle, which I used to spin some laceweight yarn. My hands needed a change from other fiber arts, different movements. This is a good regency,  full of comic scenes.

Happy day everyone, let's hope for some cool.  I did get a good walk early before it got too hot.

Late breaking: the insurer called, have approved the claim for the house repair, and will inform the contractor, so we can get on with scheduling the work. It feels like several years since this started. So this is good.

Still hot at 10pm

  1. Unbelievable how fast three months shot by - really three months since your hip op! You must enjoy having enough art supplies to be able to change activities and produce such lovely yarn.

    1. I do like being able to switch activities, yes. And that time has moved fast for me, too. A great recovery.

  2. I like the ink drawing. How long did it take?

    1. In general, the drawing is the sum of all my years of making art. Specifically, a few minutes.

  3. Switching activities is a sensible way to approach life in general - mentally and physically.
Your surgeon will be pleased with your progress - star pupil!

    1. I think he, classic surgeon, will feel of course it's fine, it's my work! And yes, one of my friends used to insist on a change of pace, and I learned from her.

  4. Hallelujah to the news from the insurer! The fruit photos are luscious. Love that ink drawing.

    1. I felt so much better that I'd correctly identified the call and answered it! Otherwise it's a big fuss trying to get through the system to return it. Especially since I think they're in a different time zone and you can't return it till next day.
I'm liking drawing a bit. No commitment, none of that daily or bust approach just free to draw or not. I do like fine point pen best of all.

    1. It feels so much better, less helpless about the repair. I don't do waiting without news very well.

  6. I cannot believe it is three months since your surgery. Clearly I am getting old and time speeds past.
I remember my step mother reading Georgette Heyer novels.
I note the external air con pump. It looks large. Is is just for you?

    1. Yes, hard to believe it's three months. That's a gas furnace for my three story house. They're all about that size. The fan under that housing is large.

  7. It got cold last night, and the wind blew in, and I had to close the window despite being under a blanket It’s just over 50F now at almost 7am. Warmth will return this afternoon.

  9. You certainly are a talented artist. That ink drawing is lovely!
    Glad the hip is healed!
We had a wonderful protest - the weather was perfect and the crowd was great to see. Lots and lots of cars driving by honking and waving and carrying signs as we smiled and waved and chanted with our own signs and flags waving! Hey Hey! Ho Ho! Donald Trump has got to go!! :)

    Lots of good foods.
Almost shocked me that it has already been three months since your surgery. You are doing amazingly well!
Glad you will finally be getting to the contractors to get the repairs done.

  13. You are so talented - I cannot draw for nuts, even my stick figures are chicken scratch. Great news on the insurance and the hips - I saw my friend who had her hip procedure 6 weeks ago (I can't believe its been that long for her) and she is coming back to work on Monday - I don't think that she has been as active as you - she is getting work done on atrophied muscles in her legs, I think, and she had some bad anaesthetic and medication reactions to contend with - but she can walk straight again.

  15. I've been feeling in the last week or so of posts that "that's our Boud, 100% again". So satisfyingly to fill in that last questionnaire and get on with life. Congratulations on the insurer's go-ahead (hope the contractor is back soon!), and glad you got out for a walk before the heat really settled in. Your patio is teeming with life, and as you say, changes every day.

  16. Three months? It certainly doesn't seem like it's been that long although I'm sure it has for you. Very glad the end result has been more than favourable.
Your garden, although small, makes up for it in being mighty. Hmmm....come to think of it, a lot like the gardener herself.
