Friday morning, another hot day to come, I walked to the pond in the shade
It's an antidote to the news.
And I continue to empty the kitchen. And find items I forgot I had. Offering this handy big metal tray on Freecycle
I've had it for decades, picked up on a posh Western Princeton (read one per cent) street after the recyclers wouldn't take it. Sheet iron, they were collecting aluminum. But I now have other useful trays and don't need this collectible one. It had ghastly olde worlde floral designs until I enameled it white and liked it much more.
Happy day everyone, if you don't like something, paint it.
Meanwhile the late afternoon weather
The good news was I didn't have to go out in feels like 104°f to water the plants. Massive rainstorm.
The beach looks like it appeared because the water level is low. The frogs seem to like it.

The water level in fact is high -- it's encroached on the surrounding area.

DeleteA tray is a great boon to have, but I'm currently using a wood cutting board as one, and end up eating off it while watching TV many evenings. Hope someone can use yours.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of trays I use all the time, so this is now a spare. My round yellow one is my favorite for eating from.
DeleteGlad you got some rain at least. That is more tray than I need! My mom had a similar one, black, also with old world ghastly florals. Must have been stylish back in the day. "Phragmites" is a great word.

That's a pretty good caption. The rain multiplied the humidity, sigh.
DeleteEnjoyed the photos and that's an interesting tray. As for the caption, I can't think of a very good one but here goes. Tea for two? We had another thunderstorm last night, but it wasn't quite as loud as previous ones. We've had a lot of rain so far this summer. Our high today is going to be 92. I didn't know what phragmites was either so thanks for that. Always enjoy learning these new things. Wishing you a very enjoyable weekend and hope you stay cool. I won't be going too far in this heat.

ReplyDeleteI find it amusing that you picked up that tray in a 1% neighborhood and then had to repaint it because it was too ghastly looking. Reminds me of the time I went to look at a used Cadillac that was for sale. It too was in a top tax bracket neighborhood. There was a long driveway leading to a big house on a hill. I was taken to a barn where the Caddy was kept and saw why it why it cost so little. The owner, or maybe the owner's butler, had quite obviously painted over the rust! I ended up not buying it.
It was well made and finished, probably expensive, but the design, faux colonial meets Norman Rockwell! They may as well have sent the caddy to the crusher.
ReplyDeleteIt's not humorous but the fist thing I thought when I saw the chairs was "come sit by my side while I tell you a story". Don't ask me why. We are also in that heat and humidity. Good on you for getting out before it became unbearable.

DeleteMy caption offering is "Waiting for Waiting for Godot"? I do love a good tray and inherited a few beauties from grandparents back in the day - had a housesitter think he was doing a favour and painted them all gunmetal grey. I no longer have those trays.
