It's about the law and the first amendment among other things. And a journo doing real reporting, live streaming ICE activity. Here legally, on a citizenship path, till ICE defied a judge and is moving to deport him after many years in the US.
In other news, it was raining a lovely gentle warm rain, saved my having to water plants, but dented my walking plans. It gets a bit slippery underfoot with leaves starting to fall.
Kareem brought my misfits box mid- morning. Quite a small order this week, pretty well stocked already.
Plenty of blueberries to go with yogurt when it's not making a mayo substitute for the tuna salad with Dijon mustard and vinegar.
Broccoli heads, rescued tops, to go with the cod now thawing in the fridge. Already steamed. Cheese sauce will happen.
So many plans, so much knitting, so much reading, and there's civic duty. Here's my mail in ballot for the November election.
And the latest reading in waiting
I have a request: going forward, please read the comments ahead of yours.
Check yesterday's post to see how many times I re-explained that my fun birthday question was directed at singles, just a bit of fun for us solo folk.
Anyway, just askin'. And thank you to the blogistas who caught on and humored me!
Happy day, everyone, yes, everyone (!) and give yourself a little reward for stress. Toffeed almonds, maybe.
I’m fixated on the Odds & Ends snickerdoodles and toffee’d broken almonds.
ReplyDeleteFull disclosure: they beat out broccoli for my attention, too.
DeleteSounds like a busy day
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have all your meals for the next week all sorted
Next week and beyond. It's such a good feeling, to have the kitchen stocked.
DeleteI rationalise that Cadbury Fruit and Nut chocolate is healthy. There are fruit and nuts, and less actual chocolate. Are you with me?
ReplyDeleteWell, yes, that's even breakfast food!
DeleteI confess to seldom getting into comments on any blog, except for making one in passing.
ReplyDeleteIt is disgraceful that resident journalists can be deported after so many years, apparently on a whim, because he's upset someone's feelings by revealing the truth. I cannot believe what is happening and developing in the land of the free.
ReplyDeleteWe're fighting as hard as we can against it. And we're winning a lot of legal battles. We've got a lot of those terrible decisions reversed. But mainstream media, all now rightist, won't cover our successes.
DeleteDo you ever go through a phase where you're just simply tired of all the vegetables? I'm ashamed to admit it but I do. I'm going through a thing where I just can't even look a head of broccoli in the face. Funny how no one generally gets tired of cookies though.
ReplyDeleteI get tired of one veg then I switch to others. Luckily I don't get tired of all of them at once. I'm rarely in the mood for cookies, so this was a rare choice. Months since I baked any.
DeleteThis sounds strange, but I like seeing your groceries. Weird, I know:) Cookies and almonds with toffee bits sounds excellent.
ReplyDelete"Still Life" is one of my favorite books, I have a lot of favorites.
I started posting my misfits when I found quite a few people like to see the groceries and the menu ideas, so you fit right in.
DeleteI'm in two minds about Still Life, but I'll continue and see how it goes.
I liked that book. Once again you have good food. There is nothing wrong with a little indulgence in life. Mine is chocolate and ice cream. I can't have cashews or pistachios anywhere near me. No moderation there!
ReplyDeleteThe key word is little!
DeleteOh I adored Still Life. Have since read some of her others and been less impressed.
ReplyDeleteNobody could ever accuse you of being a lazy baker!
I just started Still Life and I'm finding it pretentious, but I'll go on a while and see if we get along better.
DeleteI think if I don't bake, I qualify as a lazy baker, but thank you for the vote of confidence!
You are all set for good food again. Funny, I even look forward to seeing the pink truck and your food laid out on the counter. So sweet of you to share. :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny that it's a little event when the pink truck shows up? I think people do enjoy the silly series each week ending with the food on the counter! I've done it on another platform and people there also got interested. It's a thing.
DeleteI'm hoping more people on both sides of the aisle speak up. I'm so glad that there have been so many court decisions that have gone against the current administration but appeals and stays have slowed things down too much. I haven't lost hope and am thankful that you keep fighting!
ReplyDeleteThank you, too. Doing your bit.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like nobody is immune to the enforced deportations that are going on and people are afraid to even go to sleep at night. The news just keeps getting worse. People are even getting afraid to resist for fear of the repurcussions. And now his orangeness is sending troops into yet another city.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for seeing that wonderful pink truck every week - at least it's something to look forward to.
Plenty of people are resisting fearlessly all over. He was stopped from coming into Chicago, expelled from LA, and now Portland is standing up to him. Don't believe what mainstream media say. He's their guy.
DeleteYes, the pink truck is a nice antidote.
