Potatoes in full bloom

Potatoes are blooming busily now.  This means new potatoes by about mid to late June.  With any luck, to coincide with farm peas. Weather permitting.

The flower is very interesting, one solid petal with points.

  1. You are way ahead of us--ours are just breaking the ground. We only planted them a week or two ago, though. They're in the nightshade family, you know, so the flower is very similar to that of tomatoes, eggplants, etc. The red potatoes often have lavender blooms, so pretty.
