Another great Tuesday unfolded.
Morning included upcycling this piece from The Box. I just removed the skirt thing, and this was the result.
Then the Tuesday knitters had two new members and the return of last week's new member, who had been busy with her learning squares and circles.
Two more bears being cut out. This makes me think of making a bear or two for the Rez kids using that extra fabric from the upcycled top. .
And here's a better picture of a wearer-made sweater in action.
Talk was great, with new members adding a lot. It ranged over embroidery, elder care, food needs, the local crisis ministry, beginning a craft, making bears, wills, trusts, mammograms, garden ornaments, Friends of Pine Ridge, and more.
Textiles and Tea was about fine geometric weaving in cotton and fine silk kumihimo braiding.
The guest is a great teacher! She had set up the background with her marudai loom on which she braids and had examples ready to hand, to illustrate her points. Such preparation.

The breadth of Textiles and Tea presentations continues to amaze me, and each week's art is fascinating to study through your photos. Then, this week, to have the "great teacher" accolade - wow! Not all people with great skills can also teach; what a pleasure it must have been to watch this one.
ReplyDeleteThe rest of your day was quite fine, as well. As usual, a packed Tuesday!
Chris from Boise
She really was good -- you felt you were in good hands. Patient with questions, very frank about what she's good at or not -- can't stand handling water, so she doesn't do dyeing eg. But she's confident about what she does very well, good role model.
DeleteGreat idea to remove the skirt and have a nice top.
ReplyDeleteIt went from minidress to wearable top!
DeleteThat bridging is incredible. I think I’d enjoy that… if I could master it and not make myself nuts. I love your upcyclw. It looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteI think you'd be good at braiding, the eye and the patience. Up to a point. The disk is very hard to manage, needing three hands. But the loom is easier, I'm told.
DeleteVoila you have a new blouse/top.
ReplyDeleteIn practically no time. That was an easy alteration.
DeleteThe weeks spin by so fast, it's hard to keep up. Surely the last Tuesday was only a couple of days ago?
ReplyDeleteI think it was yesterday..
DeleteLove the gorgeous weaving in this week's Textiles and Tea! Your new-to-you hoodie top looks great too.
ReplyDeleteI thought this weaving style would appeal to you. My new Hilfiger is pretty cool.
DeleteCute top you made! That braiding is amazing!
ReplyDeleteIt's virtuoso work!
DeleteThe braiding and weaving is so beautiful. You knitting group sounds like so much fun.
ReplyDeleteIt is. To both.
DeleteThe first thing I noticed about Rosalie was her hair, she has beautiful hair. Her braiding is beautiful too.
ReplyDeleteYour upcycled top turned out beautiful too, although I must confess I would love to have seen you in a minidress as the before:)
Your Tuesday knitters club always impresses me with the variety of topics and projects. I guess my pottery group isn't so different. A group of women is boon to the soul, we hold each other up.
Yes, women together have a lot of interesting ideas and feelings to share. We very rarely mention men, come to think of it.
DeleteI think a view of me in a mini dress would need a trigger alert!
I like your upcycled hoodie!
ReplyDeleteI like tops with hoods, and never put the hood up. I just like the look of it.
DeleteI do like how you've made the top.
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice fit.
DeleteWhat a great idea to make a top out of it! Really cute!
ReplyDeleteI loved the rainbow-colorful thing the best that looked like a caterpillar. ;)
That one is built on a dryer vent hose!
