Be still, my heart, and Misfits

I notice blogger has put in links here and there. Please disregard.  I am not putting them in and I hope you don't click on them.  I'm not doing free advertising for any of them. If anyone can tell me how to disable them, please do. An icon has appeared on the screen as I write which might trigger them, and may need to be disabled.

Cardio visit Thursday morning, followup after the testing before installing Hippolyta last April, heart valve still leaking but no more than before.

Friday an echo heart check is scheduled, and it's longish so Handsome Son is gallantly driving me.

While I was out, Misfits arrived with a bigger box of goods than last week.

Cans to share with the food pantry, Nancy yogurt because my usual wasn't available, but Nancy's is good.

Fusilli pasta for a recipe from Yeung Man Cooking. Great carrots, I just scrub, don't peel them because they're very tender, and they may become soup with my outdoor pumpkin now the nights are colder.

Plenty of bread, firm tofu for another recipe idea involving spices and vegetables, feta cheese for sprinkling on vegetables,  ground coffee because grinding coffee is asking a bit much of a person who hasn't had her coffee.

Wonderful sturdy brown eggs.  Blueberries and apples for mid mornings and desserts with yogurt, favorite ketchup for dipping sauce or just as it is, to go with toasted cheese sandwiches. Bag of mixed chocolate treats, to share with Handsome Son.

This was a nice haul. I messaged Misfits recently to thank them for careful handling, boxes put, not thrown, on the step right where I can get the door open. When there's eggs, this matters.

I weakly agreed to house a giant plant from Gary to house over the winter, maybe till he moves into his new house.  He's driving me to the dentist Monday so it's fair.

The dentist is a bit further away than I like and that, with the general stress of even a checkup, makes it too tiring to drive home safely.  He's been wanting me to give up driving that far, so he's good with it.

He's not as well himself as he was, so the patio idea may be on hold. Not a problem, if it happens, fine.

Comic relief on today's Freecycle

I've been looking everywhere for these ;)

Happy day everyone, not getting any younger, I believe. Meanwhile I'm reading some Albert Campion short stories, thank you for the idea, Kirsten.

  1. That is a big box...Amazon could use some shipping and handling lessons from them. I hope the echo test and trip to dentist are to the good for you,. Still hopeful here.

  2. Story go round... I believe I found the idea on someone else's blog! Likewise book recommendations for Lucy Mangan 'Bookworm' and Susan Hill 'Howard's End is on the Landing'... oh the joy of reading blogs!

  3. A Misfits Feast! I don’t believe I’m getting any younger either, but the jury is still out.

    1. I think it depends on how you count. I'm pretty sure I'm not really grown up yet.

  4. I’m glad you messaged to let the then know what a good job they’re doing. They get so many angry messages and phone calls. I’m sure it made their day

    1. I try to make a point of telling people when I'm happy with them, for that reason -- to help balance all the complaining!

  6. Appointments come, appointments go and it's always good to tick them off the list. I hope your upcoming visits engender pleasing results.

  7. The live links could be as a result of AI getting involved somehow. Sorry I have no clue how you can get rid of them though. This morning I was horrified to learn that Windows 10 will no longer be supported after the middle of this month and now they're pretty much forcing me/us to go to Windows 11 whether we want to or not. I'll hold out in hopes there might be a free version down the road...or, horrors....I have need of a new computer.
Misfits, as always, looks great and I'm sure they more than appreciated a nice message of praise.

    1. I think you're right about ai involvement. As long as blogistas realize I'm not forcing links on you.

  8. When I copy text with links, I paste it into Notepad which should be on every PC. It strips whatever formatting comes with the copying. I then paste that version into my post.

    1. Whatever that all means! Those of us without a PC need different workarounds, I think. If your instructions enable pc owning blogistas to get rid of the links thank you !

  9. I wonder if the links are something Blogger is doing as an income generator. For Blogger, not for us.
Tending to our physical beings surely does take up a lot of time, doesn't it? Medically, I mean. Of course, when you think about it, tending to our physical beings by gathering and preparing and eating food and getting enough sleep and exercise and being hygienic and all those other things takes up ALL our time. Almost. We still have time for reading, thank goodness. And art.

    1. Yes, I'm not happy with the current doctor requirements, taking time and energy, but I remind myself I'm lucky to have all this access, and all insurance covered.
The links are driving traffic via Google search engine, so yes, probably $$ get in there.

  10. Now this is a mystery. I guess AI involvement is probably what is going on. Thanks for the warning. You got a good Misfits haul. Lots of good stuff coming in the week ahead. You do seem to be Gary's greenhouse!

    1. I'm a kind of repository of various things he needs cared for! I'm guessing that ai is the culprit behind everything these days, including the new cold weather.

  11. That's frustrating when things happen on your blog and you can't figure out why. I have that problem from time to time, not with links, but with text. Drives me crazy, a short drive fortunately:)
Hope the echo goes well. Take care.

    1. I was annoyed to see all the links I never put, which didn't show up till published. I don't like blogistas to think I'm pushing links when I'm just talking.

  12. I've got the dentist next week too. Not looking forward.
I noticed a message at the top of my list of posts that said something about links. I didn't know what they were talking about so ignored it.
"Google Search links: Based on your blog content, Blogger will automatically identify key words and phrases in your post and insert Search links in case your readers want to explore more. In Compose View, Look for the ‘Pencil’ icon on the top-right of the page to get started."
Maybe the pencil works in reverse too.

  13. I have never cooked tofu but the rest of your delivery sounds great.
Good luck with the dentist and your echo husband just had one.

    1. I like firm tofu best, for dicing or cutting into sticks. It's versatile and a good food. Thank you for the medical good wishes. The echo is a repeat of last April before the hip replacement. He's leaving his practice and wants another baseline to leave his successor.
