Happy May, with white rabbits. Or brown ones.
I'm in the middle of a very happy time. Walking without pain, Handsome Son preparing to phase out what has been a very successful stay. Visit yesterday from local friend, screaming laughing, drinking tea, eating store bought cookies, a couple of hours. Furniture restored to pre surgery arrangement. Lovely weather. Misfits today, with a new supply of tofu for crisp sticks. Physical therapy this afternoon. It's all good. And later I'm going to winnow sewing supplies for my rez friends.
Meanwhile Gary came skidding in, in search of Pam, nonstick spray, which I don't use. Went across the street to K to ask her, then I saw them both go next door to another neighbor. Then Gary was back, maybe parchment paper? I supplied him with a sheet and he promised me a cinnamon roll, the reason he needed the nonstick item. All good! I'm guessing a heat 'n eat thing, he not being a baker. He has a new stove, so testing, maybe.
And he delivered it, cinnamon roll, not stove, to my sofa shortly after
Later he brought in the Misfits box
I got a taste for cereal after seeing Handsome Son enjoying his, so I added Heritage flakes -- various grains including ancient ones -- and muesli to my box. Tofu for crisp sticks with dipping sauce, strawberries and blueberries to go with yogurt and cereal, shredded carrot to save my energy, gala apples because they're a staple, spring mix salad because it's spring.
Nice outlook here, easy nutritious meals. I have fish in the freezer for when I feel like cooking it.
Happy day everyone, later it's PT, and meanwhile I'm resting and doing a few desultory exercises.
Do something desultory today, it's May.
Pain free and living large! I'm happy for you!
ReplyDeleteRight now, no complaints here.
DeleteYou seem upbeat! Such a quick, successful recovery you've had. A visit, cookies, Gary and a cinnamon roll. Who could ask for more?
ReplyDeleteRecovery is ongoing. I still have to observe hip precautions for a couple more weeks, no bending, twisting, sudden moves, etc until healing's further along. But I'm feeling fine.
DeleteOddly enough the RC and I were just this afternoon talking about a way to buy just a couple cinnamon rolls to indulge ourselves. He could make a pan of them but then we'd be forced to eat them and then forced to take note of the unwelcome uppage on the bathroom scales. Too bad we don't have a neighbour like Gary!
ReplyDeleteSo glad your recovery is going so well.
It was enough, just one!
DeleteI did a lot of desultory things today, with no encouragement. Breakfast cereal. I’m now craving Froot Loops!
ReplyDeleteThat's candy!
DeleteI haven't heard of Pam for decades. It was around in the 70s? here and I think the first non stick spray.
ReplyDeleteI've never used it, but I've heard of it.
DeleteYou sound so bright and happy it is wonderful to see. Isn't it amazing how being pain free can make such a difference to our lives.
ReplyDeleteThat's true. Pain takes energy.
DeleteYay you...I'm so thrilled to hear of all your energy! It's simply inspirational. Happy May Day!
ReplyDeleteIt's a very nice time, weather, everything.
DeleteYou seem to have made a very speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteStill some weeks of healing to go, but I'm feeling well.
DeleteWhat a great way to welcome May! You're allowed to feel a bit tired tomorrow after all of today's fun. :-)
ReplyDeleteChris from Boise
Yes, quite a bit of activity most of it fun. Lovely day.
DeleteHow are your owls?
DeleteThree tiny fluffballs, one as-yet-unhatched egg. Very attentive parents. I'm watching the nestcam as I write. She's brooding them and he's delivered a moth, an earthworm and an unidentified morsel so far tonight.
DeleteI'm so glad things are going well for you - - it makes me smile. Welcome to May!
ReplyDeleteSuch generosity, thank you, dear Jayvee. I hope things go better for you.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to hear that everything is progressing as it should. You're fortunate to have good neighbours, but then, you reap what you sow.
ReplyDeleteYes, good neighbors are a two way street. But it's a bonus when they're as entertaining as mine.
DeleteGood for you Desultory here = two audiobooks.
ReplyDeleteSounds pretty desultory. What are you reading?
DeleteWhat an upbeat post, Boud, and it’s clear that you have made great strides in recovery and you had a great day with friends, food and deliveries i keep a similar spray, like Pam in the pantry in case the parchment paper is not available.
ReplyDeleteWhen I last got parchment paper, I think it was a lifetime supply, though it was the smallest amount available. And I reuse it.
DeleteGreat news, Boud. Pain free days ahead! Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIt's great, isn't it? I wish it for everyone.
DeleteWhat a happy post! Long may the good days and healing continue.
ReplyDeleteThank you, that's the hope
DeleteThis post makes me SO happy! I'm just thrilled you are doing well and having people around you that bring you cinnamon rolls! I think you might miss Handsome Son but you'll get your whole fridge back!
ReplyDeleteI'm lucky. And one consolation for the departure of handsome Son is that I'll be able to find stuff in the fridge! I think he's going to be glad to get back to his own space, too.
DeleteI do use a non-stick spray occasionally. These days it's an avocado oil spray. It works wonderfully well with my cast iron when I want just a little bit of non-stickiness for what I'm cooking. I also use it to spritz whatever I'm putting in the air fryer. It is not in an aerosol can and I feel okay about using it. But parchment paper is used here for many things, including baking.
ReplyDeleteOkay. That's Mary's cooking class for today. I feel like a jerk.
Mostly what I want to say is that you sound terrific and I am SO glad!
I like comparing cooking notes, not jerky at all. I usually wipe oil around the pan when I want just a film of it.
DeleteThank you, I'm doing fine.
