Today we celebrated belated Easter and early Mother's Day. I thought HS had done quite enough for me this year, without doing anything special next Sunday.
My bit consisted of setting up the cheese board, the table and some vegetables. And making his favorite Colman mustard. He brought ham, more vegetables, tiny chocolate eggs and jelly beans.
I sported The Pearls! It's a family joke that they come out for special occasions, even if I'm wearing t-shirt and jeans.
It was a lovely relaxed easy time, and we took our tea outside on the deck where we watched a merlin fly over the suddenly quiet area, first sighting this year, not a bird moved, this picture right before the sighting
and I found this on the Japanese maple.
I think it's a gall. I removed it and the branch looked undamaged. I must learn more. If any blogista knows more, please say.
After Handsome Son left, I watched Textiles and Tea with famous Scottish tapestry and paper artist, Joanne Soroka. She wrote a classic book on tapestry weaving, and her own work in paper and in fiber, breaks barriers.
What a lovely photo of you and your pearls! Do you ever clutch them in dismay?! Now that HS has returned to his home you have really moved onto the next step of getting better and back into your normal routines.
ReplyDeleteYes, they're for clutching when necessary. It feels so normal now. It was lovely having him here, and now we're both glad to be home.
DeleteThat's a lovely photo of you, and a low key celebration for the day.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It was a very nice day.
DeleteGreat photo of you and your pearls! Keep on keepin' on!
ReplyDeleteWill do!
DeleteIt is just about time for us to do our slightly early Mother’s Day breakfast.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy.
DeleteThe pearls are always a great addition! Happy day!
ReplyDeleteThe finishing touch!
DeleteHappy belated Easter and early Mother's Day - and a celebration of independence (for both of you). I continue to be so impressed both with HS, and with your mutual relationship.
ReplyDeleteArtistic inspiration stirs - another sure sign of recovery.

HS is a good friend. I'm glad it's that way, because it's not a given. And yes,, needing to make is a good sign.
DeleteWhat a wonderful son to celebrate Mother’s Day with you. Even if it’s a little early
ReplyDeleteYou don’t need a reason to wear purls. They’re lovely
I luv my pearls! HS has always spent time with me for mother's day, usually a different day because he works Sundays. I've always declined flowers and lunch because too expensive for no reason. His company is the best gift.
DeleteOut for coffee this morning and sharing you and your blog with SG. Every day should be Mother’s Day when it comes to you!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww, that's so nice. I feel nowadays as if every day is my day, no pain, it's great.
DeleteWith my knowledge of New Jersey being limited to Stephanie Plum and the Sopranos it's always a surprise to hear about merlins and nature.
ReplyDeleteVisitors are often surprised to find this is the Garden State, mostly ag, outside a few cities, wild areas, great shore, etc. We're on the Eastern Flyway, great bird sightings particularly now, warbler migration.
DeleteYou nearly had me at the Colmans - its a favourite here too!
ReplyDeleteI have several mustards and can count on HS picking the Colman's. I think it's his DNA.
DeleteMy kids are already talking about Mother's Day and asking what I want to do.
ReplyDeleteWe just had Easter! Could we...not? Let the mamas among them celebrate with their children. I am tired. Is that horrible?
I think it's perfectly acceptable to say your mother's day request is to have them celebrate in their own families while you stay quietly st home with a jigsaw puzzle.
DeleteIt sounds a perfect way to spend a day and a good excuse to wear pearls.
ReplyDeleteYes. I can't see wearing them doing dishes!
DeleteYou look stunning in The Pearls, dahling.
ReplyDeleteWaves graciously to crowds lining streets..
DeleteWhat a nice dual celebration. Now I think I need to look for my pearls...haven't worn them in an age.
ReplyDeleteYes, time for the Wearing of the Pear!s.
DeleteWhat a sweet celebration and how nice that you are feeling well enough to celebrate again and wear your pearls.
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling fine now. And it was a good day.
DeleteI must say, you look fabulous!! HS is a good man. You have motivated me to use my pearls.
ReplyDeleteWear your pearls to look abfab.
DeleteI've never had a pearl necklace but yours is inspiring. I'm glad HS is so good to you and that you enjoyed your celebrations.
ReplyDeleteI love to wear it. It was a special gift long ago from handsome partner. Yes, it's nice to have a son become a friend.
DeleteI love that, Boud. It is a lovely thing.
DeleteThe picture of you in your pearls made me smile! What a nice celebration with HS. It is such a blessing to have a great relationship with one's child (or children).
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are doing so well and life is getting back to normal. Whoohoo! :)
Yes, all good!
DeleteSeeing you in your pearls reminded me of Irene. She often wore hers to our meetings. I guess she figured our meetings were special enough to warrant them.
ReplyDeleteOther readers: the reference is to my sister. Maybe it's in the DNA!
DeleteFor months, I wore my pearls. A quiet support of good sense and normalcy. Putting them on now just makes me sad to remember how sure I was that we would surely not elect him twice.
ReplyDeleteYes, I did too, especially on election day. Wearing them now is a protest.
DeleteThis looks like a perfect Sunday. And I adore that you wear the pearls -- and you are rocking them!
ReplyDeleteThe Pearls are a vital component of holidays.
