Exciting showering this morning, then later a walk to the mailbox with HS, then still later a solo trip across the street to a neighbor's house. It's all go, this unassisted walking life.
HS is going home tonight so I've tried out everything while he's around, and it's worked fine.
Meanwhile I got out the crochet and changed colors, now a bright white.
I'm thinking irregular stripes in green, white and blue. The tension seems to be working better now, and the warmer weather is friendly to my hands, so I can work a bit longer each time.
In the midst of my listening to Heat and Dust read by Julie Christie,
Gary came in with a cactus that looks a bit over watered to me. He decided to move it outside the fence, and I didn't argue though there's rain in the forecast. It might be sheltered under his butterfly bush.
Happy day everyone, May the Fourth be with you!
Sometimes it's good to not do something, as in watering cactus. I'm not very skilled at refraining, full disclosure, though not surprising. Anyway do this
And here's the haggard Hawks puzzle solution
The crochet is looking good. Nice that warmer weather is kind to hands - green will be sprouting about the garden as well.
ReplyDeleteI took a while to get the tension right in this stitch, but now it seems to be working better. And it's nice to be able to work longer.
DeleteEIEIO! This made me smile!
ReplyDeleteI liked it!
DeleteHave a nice walk. We may do a small amount of gardening today.
ReplyDeleteMy mini walks are good!
DeleteCeline brought a smile this morning. Thank you, Boud. Have a good one!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, isn't it? I did it myself when I found it -- walked right into it.
DeleteCeline Dion made me smile - thank you. Good to know that you've progressed to the point of walking outdoors unassisted and that you and Handsome Son feel comfortable with you being on your own. Go you!
ReplyDeleteYes,I wondered about last night, but it went fine. He was glad to be home, too.
DeleteSo glad you are doing so well so fast!!
ReplyDeleteI could never get tension right with knitting and probably never could get the hang of crochet for the same reason--lol! Yours looks great! And what a perfect activity for listening to audio books.
Read the vowels made me giggle, but having to look up the one word I did not know in the puzzle really made me chuckle! They are so cute! Look like little old men to me. :)
I'm glad you did the puzzle. I do like haggard Hawks, nice guy and very good etymologist I his day job.
DeleteTension has always been my problem in crocheting and knitting too. I think it's one of those things that you are either innately able to feel or not.
ReplyDeleteI could be wrong.
I agree that it's an instinctive action. Small coordination. I don't know if it can be learned, but maybe it develops with experience. My hands can tell if the stitch is right.
DeleteWhat a wonderful son to help you get back on your feet after your surgery. I'm sure he is so proud of you and, of course, you are so proud of him for being such a fine, caring man.
ReplyDeleteHe really came through for me. At this point I think my mom work is done!
DeleteEvery day brings an improvement for you - most encouraging.
ReplyDeleteYes, small plateaux, too, but generally upward movement. I'm very happy with it. Much faster than I expected.
DeleteHow very hopeful to read your blog today...thanks for sharing your efforts in crochet, but mainly in being independent in your abilities. I'm all for that!
ReplyDeleteYes, independence as long as possible.
DeleteThanks for the Celine Dion laugh!
ReplyDeleteCool, isn't it? I did it quite solemnly, walked right into it.
DeleteAs nice as it's been having help from HS, I'm sure you're both looking forward to getting back to your independent lives. A cactus outdoors in New Jersey sounds like a dubious idea, even in summer.
ReplyDeleteIn fact his cacti have done quite well, surprisingly, outside. At least he's not drowning them.
DeleteHS and I exchanged usual morning texts, both happy to be solo again!
Well done on the driving and solo walking. While it must have been wonderful having HS to stay and help you I bet you're both looking forward to getting back to normality
ReplyDeleteYes, we're both happy with our own space. It was a good couple of weeks, though.
DeleteDon't tell me Celine and Old McDonald are an item!
ReplyDeletePictures at 11!
DeleteIt’s all go now your walking so well
ReplyDeleteI bet you don’t know yourself.
My best friend, who had the brownest thumbs ever. Really wanted to have a plant growing on her kitchen window sill
I bought her a cactus and said. There you go. You can’t kill this
She did. She over watered it
It was the one thing on her bucket list she didn’t get done successfully before she
Passed. We laughed about it when she was in palliative care. I still giggle everytime I see a cactus
I think more plants are drowned than die of thirst!
Deleteeieio! Very good news on your progress.
ReplyDeleteEIEIO... HOW COOL IS THIS. THANKFUL ALL THINGS ARE GOING WELL. ENJOY THIS WEEK..
